It is actually less than a mile. For branding purposes I am sure that is why they are saying it is a mile. I live in Wisconsin but not in that area but it is literally 20 minutes walking distance from there. It is not too far from Marquette University where Dwayne Wade played basketball and where I attended school. When we would walk to the basketball games from campus it took it no more 15 minutes 20 minutes. Incident occurred in King Park. Kids were in the park and inside for summer camp activities at the time. That had to be really scary for them. They more than likely were on the other side of the park as there are a group of homeless people that also live in the park.

I am from the Wisconsin. Apparently they were using the park as a staging area. The deceased person was a homeless person who actually lives in the park. The RNC is not a mile from there it is about 15-20 minutes walking distance. For news programming and branding reasons that is probably why they are saying a mile so whoever has any loved ones in town they do not want to make them feel uncomfortable. I saw one report that said 2 miles. To give you an idea how close it is, if you see the street they are showing if you keep walking down that street going east you will run right into Fiserv Forum where the RNC is being held. Not a mile. You can walk to the corner and literally see the Fiserv Forum.
