That would be Tokuhiko Uwabo. Compared to the Game Boy version of Tetris' type A background music, which had an appropriately Russian feel, "Clotho" took a more classical approach to its musical style.

Black Market I think, they (SEGA) made different packs of games for every region, I'm from Europe and have the PAL region, so they would thought that in europe would like these games, if you are from USA or the NTSC region//JAP region the games might be different

Actually, Clotho was a goddess in Greek mythology, along with her two sisters who also have tracks named after them in this game. The three of them together were responsible for weaving fate, destiny, life, and death.

Loved the fact that when you paused the game it doesnt clear the screen. So as soon as your gem dropped, you pause and plan ahead on where to put it. You could play forever!

You know, I may not have been very young when I played this game, I don't have as deeply engraved nostalgia as some of you would have but I still gotta say it's one hell of a song. It really captures the feel of this game. Stoic, ancient, yet busy and even nerve-racking in a way. The song embodies this through simplicity and great composition and no I'm not a musician, just a game designer.

The slow, methodical opening evokes opulent architecture and spacious halls, reminiscent of the more "holy" sounding tunes in Actraiser and Soul Blazer. At 1:28 it picks up a bit of speed and sets out on a rolling, meandering path that reminds me of Phillip Glass. Unfortunately I never played this game when it was new, but at least I get to enjoy this incredible song now!

This song is a really nice background music for when you're playing Novice flash columns on level 5, have yourself worked all the way up to the top, but through a series of freak accident combos you work your way back down to the bottom and smash that shiny little gem.
