This touches me deeply. My husband was in the COVID isolation ward and I was having to quarantine at home, He called me one day in the middle of a very unusual for him panic attack. He thought the staff had kidnapped him and were holding him hostage. I tried my best to explain to him over the phone what was really happening, and as soon as I got him calmed down and hung up the phone, I called the nurses station on his floor to alert them that something was really wrong. They responded to his room and called me back after a while to tell me that they had run tests and they believed that his oxygen had slipped, making him paranoid. They then allowed me to come to the hospital to be by his side 24/7. He slipped into the "brain fog" and never was fully conscious again, but I had the enormous privilege of being there to see how well and caring the staff was, how tenderly they cared for him in his last days. Hearing this man's story of coming out of the COVID coma helps me.

ICU delirium after waking up from coma can be terrifying! I have read of several accounts and having been in a medical induced coma myself for 5 days, trust me I know. There are sertanly more the nurses and doctors can do to ease the fear and building trust with the patient until the delirium wear off.
