The Aerial Resupply on Leyte portion I believe was General Joe Swing's 11th Airborne Division. The story goes Swing thought of using his six spotter planes as airborne supply & medical evac planes. He actually jumped in an infantry company iirc two per plane at a time.

I remember being on flag detail at my elementary school in 1969 when Eisenhower died, and putting the flag at half mast, and thinking he was a great general. But, as I grew up I began to realize he was more politician than he was a good general. He was a perfect compliment to FDR. They both let Britain/Churchill/Monty have way too much say, and get away with too much BS. Mark Clark would have been a better SHAEF Commander.
