On the topic of armour in CE, armour actually starts to lose effectiveness once it's below 80%hp, and once it's below 50% the protection it offers falls off a cliff. So for example the power armour at 2:35 only provides 10mm of protection, while when new it would provide 20mm, because it's at 50%. It's for this reason I recommend when setting up an armour bill you set it so that you always have at least 1 spare armour piece at at least 50%, up to 80%, in storage. So your colonists can take it once their armour gets damaged and loses effectiveness. Setting it to 50% will use the least resources but your colonists will spend more time wearing damaged and less effective armour. Setting it to 80% means they will always have maximum protection, but you'll spend far more resources making armour since you need to replace it so much more often. And of course you can set it anywhere in between as well.

One of the big reasons mechanoids are the universes most painful experience to exist in CE as well is because this doesn't apply to them. Unlike physical apparel and things people wear, Mechanoids don't wear armor but instead are infact the armor. Mechanically it just means that they don't have any cloths or armor over them to damage and thus your fighting their natural armor value to their body, which stacking onto that, is very high. In game, that means if you have no armor piercing or high explosives to use against mechanoids, you can't wear down their metal bodies and you're very screwed. Centipedes are in lore walking tanks, and CE made no exception to make that the case, so remember this the next time you try filling a centipede full of holo point and then asking "why are none of my bullets working?"

Yes, without blunt protection your colonists will just get bruised till they falls down unconscious due to pain. If you give them drugs however...

Why do you never use hauling animals? Dogs for example, and dogs could also work as corpse disposal if you have right zones made (or use animal control) Edit: Oh and also, smoke blocks mech turrets from shooting at you

If you have enough pawns then making a pawn whose job is doing Hauling is way more efficient than using an animal considering you have to essentially train and then manage said animal compared to pawns who are more effective and better to use paired with you can use bionic limbs on em. Animals are kind of either livestock or a luxury imo especially depending how easily animals can die.

@@FoxoManiak It is just probably me but I have had better playthrus relying on Pawns than animals for rescue and hauling takin into resource management, efficiency, and success rate considering in a firefight I can maneuver the pawn. Generally had the dogs or whatever animal in the role die or get downed anytime a stray bullet goes off toward them in a fire fight and they are useful early game if you have them for hauling but in my games eventually they get phased out for pawns or hauling robot mods or end up as emergency rations. I will not deny their utility but I have had always bad experiences using them and CE is partially to blame.

@@HappyH4x0r I usually make a few batches of M72 LAW and stash them at different places in the base. That way I can get my pawns to pick them up in case a centipede or such show up. That also means they don't have to carry them for day to day work. In case of a mech cluster I have a RPG-7 and a bunch of heat and termo rounds that I assign to my best shot in Power armor. An undervalued weapon is the simple pump action shotgun. It is great sidearm for gatherers and haulers that do not have the best shooting skill. Sometimes they get hunted for food by predators and are too far away to escape or assist and in those cases the shotgun with buckshot will stop most things. I usually issue them with 20 buckshot, 10 slugs and 10 EMP rounds. In that way they can deal with pretty much everything and short range.

Not a pro, but here's a tip: we all know that if mechs hit you, you're most likely dead. It can be solved by removing the ability of mechs to hit anything by kicking out their light sensors. That can be achieved by either a lucky shot or more reliably by shelling them with mortars. Usually a mix of HE and Incendiary shells works well, but a spotter is very important to make sure every shell lands exactly where needed. If both light sensors are completely knocked out, mechs actually stop firing the guns at all and try to get closer and fight you in melee. That's where we employ a highly dynamic AT rifleman to run around the bastards and kill them with PTRS-41. It won't be that hard to run away from them, because after an extensive artillery barrage, all that is usually left are a few centipedes. And if you have a highly honored pawn, make sure one of their permits is an air strike salvo. Best damn thing ever, saved me a bunch of times when a massive cluster landed right next to my base.

I once installed CE, disabled ammo consumption (i just wanted vanilla guns be more powerful thats it) ... let's say that infinite normal ammo cannot kill mech centipedes... HP is extremely OP in machineguns when fighting tribals (or just about anyone not in power armour). However if you're up against power armour then HP is useless and you may as well go to FMJ or ideally AP (AP-HE if you're awesome).

Yo bro, if the enemy gets pretty close to you and you just want to get off shots, use snapshot, sometimes it's best to put the fire mode in single and use snapshot, if shooting is high enough it's even okay for long range engagement and snapshot gives you about double the shots compared to aimed mode

Do you have a personal rule not to make kill box mazes? Once I figured out I could make the entrance to my base a winding maze full of wooden traps, all the enemies became trivial. Kinda ruins the fun of the game to be honest.

Soviet tactics would work better imo. First of all, start with an excessive artillery barrage(4-10 mortars and a spotter). Continue until the next day or until you ran out of shells, then charge the enemy with PKM's or, if you have it in some mod, PPSh-41's and obliterate everyone that is left if they haven't retreated yet.

I noticed you were using sabot rounds, even vs the tribals, that ammo is super expensive and at the point that you can easily afford sabot rounds you can also afford ap-i and ap-he, both of which are way better vs tribals, though the dude shot in the head def wouldnt have survived

Tribals are useless against machine guns, that's just how it should be. And embrasures are pretty much the only way to not instantly die when someone properly equpped attacks the base.

@@ДмитроПрищепа-д3яReal issues is that combat and AI sucks and in late game it becomes fucking stupid. Embrasures make melee just useless, you are removing part of the game by a mod. Which is just straight up cheating.

@@foreignfat6009 melee is rightfully getting shifted back as you progress in tech. You don't really see soldiers irl running with coghead clubs from WW1 now. If you want a true melee experience of pain and suffering, go with tribal start and have fun(honestly my favorite start). Also, even tribal raiders sometimes bring stick bombs, so unless ypu have really overwhelming firepower, they have chances to breach in and fight you in melee. And melee is quite useful agains mechs too.

Rolled homogeneous armour is a type of armour made of a single steel composition hot-rolled to improve its material characteristics or RHA for short is use as a ballistic model and use by many armed forces but in Rim world case its you Armor thickness for most Armor types giving the player info on it it could stop the bullets here's a idea it you have 8mm of RHA and some one hits you with 8mm of pen the bullet will stop just before the skin thus not cause a bleed but will turn the pen force in to blunt force and if the Armor you ware has higher blunt you ignore all damage but take hit points damage to the Armor which lower its RHA and blunt Protection so wearing down raiders Armor is possible but if it does not have Hit points for its Armor like mechs your out of luck
