I NOTICE a common scene in most of the Combat episodes the LT Rick Jason is never on the missions just drives around in a jeep giving out orders Strange it was like that in real WWIi combat

One of the things I like to do watching these is look up the guest stars. I had forgotten Fernando Lamas died in 1982! His wife Esther Williams just died this year.

I'd give the fight to Kirby, easy. Sooner or later the Frenchman would have lost, guaranteed. French Fighters? That MUST be some form of Oxymoron.
@carlv81683 жыл бұрын
Major faux pas at 09:25. That tanker truck that Caje and Kirby took cover behind is a 1949 Dodge. The war in the ETO was over in aprox May of 1945. Do the math. That truck would've been okay for a backdrop in a MASH episode or other Korean War story.
@iracordem10 жыл бұрын
wow the war really did last 5 seasons.. plus! 1949 dodge tanker, 1959 mack dumptruck

Fernando Lamas "no lips, poor guy" is always pissed unless he's pimping a brand on a commercial; he was a better actor in commercials. Oh well, even handicapped with crummy acting still a great show. PS-don't mess with all 5'5" Kirby, he'll drop that meat grinder and give YOU an acting lesson!

I wanted to ask that too. When I see Saunders and his men hiking around they have short legs, as if they’re 5’7” or something. But when you see the long legs of the Germans - we’re seeing 6 footers.
@videomaniac10811 жыл бұрын
I just noticed that Saunders' and Cage's dog tags seem to be the bare metal issue that one gets at the start of basic training. When I took army basic training, in the late 60s, we were required to put dog tag silencers on our tags. There were two types in use: either the black rubber fence put around the edge of the tag or the clear plastic sheath that completely encased the tag. Was this normal for our combat infantry during WW2?
@stevebrownrocks63767 жыл бұрын
Jim Nesta they didn't have the silencers in WW2. They usually taped the tags together to silence them...

I always enjoy listening to a Spanish açcent on a French partisan almost as much as I like seeing a Dodge tank truck, Internationa Harvester dump trucks, a Caterpillar Power shovel and Bulldozer as part of a French quarry's operational fleet. I guess Renault, Citroën and Peugeot couldn't be bothered with building heavy equipment for there domestic market.

I love these Combat episodes but the shooting is lousy. A sniper does not miss the first time. The GIs don't aim- just shoot a lot of useless ammo. Some of this if probably true to life, but some GIs had to have better shooting skills.
@LoneWolf0514 жыл бұрын
Actually snipers rarely hit on the first shot unless they have terrain pre-sighted and memorized...in reality the first shot is the ranging shot, the second is the kill shot
@BikingVikingHH4 жыл бұрын
What the fuck are you talking about? You don’t put out a ranging shot when you are trying to snipe someone LOL, not only does it blow your cover but it gives them a chance to take cover LOL Obviously now they have rangefinders but in the day you got good at estimating range, and if that was within 300 yards, droppage isn’t really an issue on those full powered rifle rounds

Its too bad they had use the California hills as a back drop..... I understand that the producers of "Combat!" desired realism but this is no where near the country of northern France! Nonetheless, the dramatic intent is still worth watching!
