Love Kirby's kick butt BAR..at 20 odd lbs..rounds that can go through a tree trunk or concrete. Hats off to Jack Hogan (Kirby)

The trees are eucalyptus, from my home state of Victoria in Australia. During our gold-rush, the largest in the world during the 19th century, many Americans came here, and noticing how similar the climate was to California, took back these remarkably hardy trees. They now grow wild all over CA.

Can anybody tell me what kind of vehicle was the Coroner riding in with the "Germans" in this episode? I know the one in front was called Kulvelwagon (that in the 70's Volkswagen called it "Safari") or something like that, but I'm not sure about the other one. Thanks.

spacepatrolman - You’ve got to be kidding me! Are you talking to yourself? I think you’re also answering yourself too, ‘cause I don’t think anyone is listening. Or are you trying to establish some enigma code, or something? LOL I know what you’re doing and to do this in one or two episodes is fine, but to do this in every one? (I’ll be kind and keep my comments to myself, but you’ve got me LOL and rolling on the floor.)

Demo man did a poor job--that is NOT what incoming from small caliber OR large arty looks like. Some of the shellbursts further away were close to being realistic but the ones close to the actors sure weren't. Might be nit-picking but it wouldn't have hurt to check out the actual combat footage they were using during the B&W episodes to see what real bursts look like.
@ShastaPacificRoad10 жыл бұрын
SmoothRide Scooter Guess so. Maybe it just annoyed because I've seen better special effects on TV programs of the same era. Or maybe because I've seen actual shellbursts up close and personal...? Yeah, I nitpick a bit but doing it right usually doesn't cost any more and sure looks better. Another example: in some episodes you can see a difference in the muzzle diameter of Kirby's BAR. Likely due to the bore restrictor needed to allow the BAR to fire with blanks & I would guess that the weapon with the smaller muzzle hole is set up for blank fire while a BAR with a large hole isn't. Seen this also on the Garands. Nothing wrong, just that I've been handling small arms for so many years that some things stand out.
@maureenorourke32927 жыл бұрын
You are an example of why I don't read the comments like yours. Ruins it for the people who just enjoy the show without interrupting the flow with 'was that correct' or 'I could do that better' junk.

Oh yea....machine guns fires continuously, never runs out of ammo, make same ricochet sounds and never hits anyone. Germans couldn't shoot. I was right. Good old flanking maneuver and no Germans protecting flank. You think writers and actors would get tired of same battle sequences...same scenario.
@bdcochran016 жыл бұрын
Dave: Although very painful, read accounts of the German defense in the Huningen Forest in WW2. The used mixed arms/mobile fire units and not what is ever depicted in Combat. The defenses were set up with interlocking fields of fire and they readily abandoned positions rather than be flanked.
