What a dream job, playing Army for money!! I watched every episode of Combat when I was a kid and I even had the board game.

You know I've owned and shot M-1 Garands for 20 years. The guy that plays Caje has one of the fastest trigger fingers I've seen with the old girls and his reload time is great. The guy must have taken the time to learn that rifle from top to bottom. Even his sling carry is a quick deployment carry which they no longer teach. I know he's shooting blanks but the mechanics are the same. I'd say he was a very dedicated actor to his roll! Good job!

We used to play "Army" on my Uncle's farm. Spending a lot of time on the farm with 2 cousins my age was something I'm glad I was fortunate to have while growing up. We knew every nook and cranny of that Farm, with 2 barns and many ramshackle out buildings. We knew where to set up machine guns and where and how to flank positions and snipe. By 12 years old I think we were all pretty good little soldiers! I guess we all miss the "Good old days"...

In reading about "Combat!" I was interested to see that "Caje" (Pierre Jalbert) was a Drill Instructor for Canadian Forces in WW2. All the main characters were military vets. Combat always seemed pretty accurate from a military standpoint. It made it SO much better than most Hollywood depictions of the military. I still remember watching these episodes when they first ran. I was a little kid in the early 60's and my cousins and I always emulated the "squad" when playing Army on the farm.

What does Dr. Harris think happens to the people in and around the bunker when it is bombed from the sky? It's different if you don't actually see the dead men??
@argerm574 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was going to post. Either way, people die. I guess the difference would be not by his own hand or handiwork. Not much of a difference, though. They are just as dead. And, does it make any difference if you kill them personally or provide the information that signs their death warrant? Seems to me the thing for the Dr. to do would be a CO, or work stateside, or be a medic. Plenty of other opportunities to serve if you're not really into killing.
@randy9502313 жыл бұрын
Even though I'm in my mid 50's I still feel like a little kid watching "Combat!" today. Cool difference is now I understand what the "Krauts" are saying because I took two years of German in College in the 1970's. They speak simple, but accurate German. A lot of the French is a bit off but I shouldn't nit-pik such a great Television Show. It's way better than having the Germans and French speak English with silly accents...

Always ironic that Vic Morrow died in a war scene in a movie. RIP
@kathrynmcmahon40483 жыл бұрын
Such a tragedy and for what. I will NEVER understand why he went along with this. Vic shared his concerns about this with several ppl. That's God telling you (DON'T DO IT). Ppl need to listen to that voice. Those children should NEVER have been on that set (at that time) doing THAT stunt. Vic knew that as well. I am very surprised Vic went along with this!!$

Shame on those who should have promoted him. Shame on all the suits and whoever else kept Vic and the men from doing a final season for closure ( in b and w). Shame in those who kept Vic from really showing his talents and keeping him from directing. He got black listed!!! I'd love to know who and why!!! Are there any fans of Vic"s out there who met him and talked with him?

Rolex wearers are fanatically attached to their watches and love to show them off at every opportunity. It's kind of like the Porsche drivers who live and breathe Porsche and who religiously attend their local Porsche Club of America(PCA) chapter's meetings. You might also see big, fat black and gold Mont Blanc fountain pens in their shirt pockets. It's all about the feeling of exclusivity that these ostentatious status symbols confer upon the individual, at least in their own minds.

There are inaccuracies, like having rank markings on uniforms that never happened in combat. I like the show but appreciate historical accuracy, filter cigs were not invented yet. Hillary is history, get over it.

A real installation would have had security further out plus the building, antenna and mast are wrong(antenna would have looked like a rotating bedspring on edge). The props people got most of it right, why not this? Never mind...I know why but it diminishes the effect.
