Former USN rescue swimmer (HS-7 Dusty Dogs). We flew the Sea Kings and trained for combat SAR "back in the day". Skipper flew in Nam with HAL-3 and was bad ass on these missions, we would land with tree leaves in the tail wheel! Thanx for giving "air crew" some love, Bravo Zulu!

Former HS aircrewman (Jax), great breakdown by T-Lo on one of the many mission sets required by the air wing helos. Brought back memories of many moonless nights CSAR training with the Foxtrots, using IR chemlights clamped to the stab since only the Hotels had factory “slime” lights!

Great podcast. I graduated from SARS school when it was at HS-1/NAS JAX. The son of my best friend in the Navy is now an E7 PJ. Probably not PC, but I loved my "Fly Navy...SAR Swimmer need the work" T-shirt.

This was an amazing podcast. As a retired, SCPO ADJ Aircrewman, Rescue Swimmer I was incredibly impressed. I was a crewman on H-1’s and H-3’s with one of my favorites tours, among many, mountain rescue at Fallon in 1980. My son, a CPO, just retired there and now works at the Puzzle Palace, with no windows, lol. At the end of your presentation, you both were talking about information and education about aviation and the military. I am a facilitator at the National Flight Academy at NAS Pensacola Florida. We work with seven through 12th grade students in a STEM environment. T-LO, from what you were saying, this is Somthing you should research and maybe help provide scholarships for our young students. Please reach out to the NFA, I think you would be very satisfied by the quality of education we provide. Again, just a Superb podcast. Respectfully. Not mention was the Navy's actual dedicated SPECWAR Squadrons HCS 4/84 Redwolves and HCS 5/85 Firehawks. Reserve squadrons who were deployed to Iraq for continuously for 11 years. Flying the HH-60H's. Many Direct Action missions supporting NSW, ODA, and other SF!

AF Pararescue (PJs) are special operations, jump/HALO/dive qual, advanced medical, do technical rescue plus a significant 'other' skill set. Ostensibly hardest pipeline in the military. Also responsible for more non-civ SAR work in PACNORWEST and Alaska than any other unit. As former navy (who worked with PJs) who love what our SAR techs and SAR HMs do, apples and oranges.

Its good that Jello can take a well earned break once in a while, but this episode made me realize the difference he makes in presenting these podcasts. Now, I don't want to be too critical, but at *times* I found this episode tough going due to all the abbreviations and "in-house" military lingo that was used, and this is something that Jello usually clears up, whenever a new concept is introduced. My guess is that Flounder, who is less experienced in the host role, just got carried away talking to a former colleague and acquaintance, and didn't consider this factor too much. Of course, when listening to podcasts like this, one has to expect some lingo, it goes with the territory. And perhaps I'm in a minority here, just my input.

I think the military loses out by not allowing people who want to serve but can't because they struggle with test taking, myself included being the grandson of a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy during Korea and Vietnam on my dad's side of my family and a Sgt in the USMC during WWII on my mom's side of my family. In a way, my fight for my needs and wants has built a bond between myself and veterans that I don't see many civilians receiving and that is the salute. I have now lost count of how many times people have given me the salute and I am not military. I would now be ineligible for military service at this point in my life due to my 2017 diagnosis of PTSD. I have even had the chance to serve with our veterans as part of a color guard for a 2023 veterans day event. It is crazy thinking that at one point in my life I wanted to serve in the military and being turned down only now to be the one who receives a salute with not a single day of military service. I think that this will need to be a topic of discussion at some point hopefully sooner rather than later.
