*OLD AND BAD IMPLEMENTATION FOR COMBAT, YOU CAN FOLLOW IT TO LEARN ABOUT ALS BUT I DON'T RECOMMEND FOR USING IT IN YOUR GAME*
Unreal engine 4 version 4.25.1
*At 19:16 you could see "Is parrying" variable has disappeared. That's because I put videos in wrong order. From 17:40 to 19:16 is ending. My bad :(
*Want sword example? I think I might not make parry system in fist fight.
*I learnt everything about array from "UnrealGaimeDev" youtube channel. He is an array god! I got this array idea while I was following his inventory system tutorial.
*I forget to fix "IgnoreRootmotion" when rotating.

Hey, thanks in advance for this detailed tutorial. I must have watched the first four episodes over 10 times and learnt a lot. Thanks for that. However, I have one problem and after about 1 week of research I still don't have a solution. I have the following problem: The hit reactions only work for the attacks performed by the right hand. I have checked everything three or four times and the slot selection is also in combat. if I transfer the same animations that don't work for the left hit to the right it works. The tracing also works perfectly. right and left both turn green when I hit the opponent. It's really exasperating because it worked the first time I tried it. After I changed the animations it didn't work anymore. Even when I put the former animations back in, there was no reaction from the opponent. Only right not left. It would be very nice if someone could help me with this.

so ive mixed some info from other tuts .my character likes to slide if i walk while punching and you diddnt cover this part just yet .i got the layer blend per bone to fix that roblem but now the problem persists in that while switching targets to the one with the health bar .sometimes more often than not the characters legs like to jump around .any tips ?.

Ok I have refined the problem...when I use the wasd to swap people or change direction it stops combat all together. No punching and no highlighting enemy character...any suggestion would be great!

if we want to add a healthbar or interact function etc.. we will add them in bpc combat blueprint or in character blueprint?please answer because i want to make quest system and i dont know where to create?

so i got everything to work including the trace and trace path but no anims! any body have the same issues ? i assumed i missed something but im not sure what lol

Did you solve this? For me it was in the Perform Trace Custom event, the add should be in the false condition of the Enemy to Hit -> Contains -> Branch.

everything works, but the widget stays on the screen now matter what. in combat mode or not, the widgets above enemy heads stay there. any way you think I can fix it?

nvm, just make sure your HPBar Component is set to not visible by default

so I have the same animations and I just realized that none of the hit reactions are following root motion, the staggers just moon walk in place. What do I need to do?

I have a simple problem, when I press to attack it is registered that there was a hit but there is no animation of GetHit .. what could cause this problem?

Hello, try checking montage slot if it's "combat", look at variable if there is reaction to it. Look at notify if it's the right attack type. I hope this help :)

Have anyone tried this with different skeleton, but using ALS_BASE character? I'm trying using BPC_COMBAT for character who have different skeleton, so I need to use different animations and I want him to be able to react on my attacks

Yeah I still cant figure it out.... My character will randomly stop punching and seeing the enemy....It will be working and then suddenly stop and then I cant punch any more and I cant cycle enemys...It seems to be linked to do with selecting a different enemy character while punching ...so it seems to do fine until I use wasd to select or camera to select enemy...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, im stuck abit on this rotation while punching, my character is rotating very very slowly to target..need to make like 20 hits..any idea how to fix it? i did follow #3 video 2 times but code looks the same.. EDIT: NVM my bad. In ALS_Base_CharacterBP > CombatInputGraph > RInterp To > i set it to Interp Speed 0.1 :D Thanks for tutorial

Thank you for your videos. I'm having an issue - when I attack and hit a Character I will move forward and complete the animation, but the animation of the target who is punched does not move. Do you know why this is? I have also ticked enable root motion.

Hi I'm curious, in 7:17, why didn't you input the Mesh reference to Get Owner Target? You did that for get socket location. Just wondering if it will make a difference

my character doesn't seem to find any enemies nearby and i don't know why, i checked all the blueprints for it. It doesn't show the HP bars either

I did everything as in the video and even checked it a second time, but when I hit, the enemy just stands, the tracing detects the enemy, but he does not react in any way. The slot is selected correctly, in the animation of the right hand there is a tick "right hand", what could be the problem?

@@Nereal_Dvigatel I also don't speak english lol. At 9:30 you can print string to check If it is triggered. If it is try check all conditions in this event, and curves value for hit reaction animation, montage slot, etc.

@@Nereal_Dvigatel perhaps you didnt input the target input in GetHit function? you need to plugin GetCombatClass function from the HitActor (break hit result), to GetHit function

I'm using metahuman, but when I punch the dummies, their getting hit animations is not being played, I retargeted new animations for the dummies skeleton, but it just moves a bit backward, how can I fix it?

I've followed all these videos by using characters and animations from Mixamo by retargeting them, but they cant seem to trigger the hit reaction for some reason my character just stands there can anyone help me out with this??

Love your stuff!!!!! So I do have a few issues. One is that suddenly my character will stop punching all together after a random number of hits... 1 hit or 10...My ai does not play his parry also. I would also love to see more work done with the hand to hand combat. THANKS AGAIN!!!!

This may help you to help me...when the punching stops working so does the health bar. So when It stops working if I am looking at someone when the punching stops working there health bar will stay visible( does no go away) and none of the other ai health bars appear...it is still random and can not figure out the issue

if after a couple of hits the player stops biting, then set the correct number in (AttackAnimMontage) to random, if you have two hit animations, then it should be like this, 0 ,1. if 3 then , 0, 2. and so on
