Couldn't find the animations, even from GGs comment. Tried to upload these mixamo wonders into UE and it broke all the bones from the ALS_AnimMan. So basicly this tutorial wrecked my 1 week work since i gotta start over now :) Thank you.

Not really combat related. But how would you walk up to the pink box and carry it and drop / throw it. Could do the same for the barrel etc. nice work on these tutorials.

You'll need to add a key mapping (or whichever way you want to drop the box) which will change the overlay state back to default, and at the same time, get the box's "transform", and spawn it's mesh separately at the exact transform by setting it's transform value to the box's transform. This will ensure when the ALS box is destroyed, the new seperate box is spawned in the exact location, rotation and scale. You'll need to have "physics enabled" in the box's details panel. Idk how the ALS box works with physics enabled, if it gets wonky while in hand, you might need to create a duplicate of it and then enable physics on that duplicate box so as not to disturb the original ALS code :)

Thank you for this tutorial it's really great. How about an animation that will impact the whole body and not only the arms ? Like a double jump or a dash ? I'm on it right now but it's pretty hard to find a good way to do this

This was enlightening :) I had a go at following along using with the animations from the starter pack for reload rifle hip and reload pistol, and it works pretty well but I must have missed something because I ran into some issues, I wondered if this was anything you or anyone else has seen while experimenting with this? - my character crouches when I reload ?! - for my reload animations, the enable hand IK stuff doesn't seem to work for me on all the overlays, only on the pistol 1H (I did add the extra blend nodes for modify curve for overlay state override #4 in the overlay states for rifle, pistol 1h and pistol 2h in the anim bp, I promise)

This is a method provided by yngmab You can create new sockets. Then inside the ALS_AnimMan_BP, there is a function called "AttachToHand", you can change the names ["VB RHS_ik_hand_gun" and "VB LHS_ik_hand_gun"] to your new sockets. Then you can adjust the position and rotation of your new socket. Or You can create sockets for your character's hands. Then create a new function to attach the weapon to your new socket.

Hi, the animations I used are downloaded from Mixamo. I use blender's addon called "Mixamo Converter" to add the root bone and change the names of all the bones, so the skeleton is ready for retargeting. But the animations in this video is only for showing how to add the upper body animations in ALSv4, I think it is better to use your own animations. so I did not include those animation in the description. If you want to use mixamo's animations, you can check out this video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZLWm2akf6aNrsU from 0:00 to 2:06, after importing the animation, you can retarget the animation.

Can anyone help me? Ive used the Anim starter pack animations instead. Pistol and Rifle reload animations works fine but i cant get the fire animation to work properly. When it plays its so miniscule that nothing happens, the only thing happening is the left hand moves slightly forward. If i look up and fire the head nods a bit back, other than that... nothing :/ EDIT: If i add a curve pin on the rifle state section for Spine it looks a bit better, if i add another to a part of the right hand it looks even better but then it ruins the reload animation.

I think its because you havent retargeted the animation, right click the animation -> duplicate and retarget, then click the ALS skeleton on the left side.

Hi Im kinda new to ue4 and been trying to follow some als tutorials, im using the anim starter pack rifle fire animation and following this tutorial, when i try to shoot it seems to only play the animation once and for about 1 frame, no matter what layers ive setup in the montage. any ideas how i can fix this? other than that the tutorial is great !

Same here, the shooting montage just plays the first frame and the reload animation hand gets stuck to the rifle even after override.

@@GucciFlexus In the anim montage of the fire anim, you can set the speed of both "S_Reload_Rifle_Hip" (on the timeline) by clicking on them and changing the value of playrate for 0.65 for exemple, I think it looks pretty good

You can upload your character's skeleton and the animation will be adjusted to it, if it's a humanoid skeleton. When you preview an animation, there's a "Upload a Character" button on the right side, below the download button. Though if you are using a UE4 mannequin skeleton, mixamo animations won't work right out of the box because they don't contain a root bone or have a different hierarchy. Use mixamo_converter by terribilis studio (it's free and easy to use) to export your mixamo animations to UE4 and then retarget from their skeleton to your own character's. It's the easiest way by far to use mixamo animations.

Hi, my retargetted character stops the montage when i turn in place, or stop walking, its like the montage keeps getting interrupted ( when i tried this on the als anim man its all good ) I have all the bone names and everything set correctly on my new iCLone7 retargetted character, what could be causing this? I even tried adding a layer blend per bone from spine_02 and upper body slot montage, but still

@TrueOriginsInteractive I duplicated the skeletal asset and then import my own character fbx. I do the same thing even my character has the same bone name as the Unreal skeletal. Then I retarget the ALS animBP to my new character . Do you add back all the virtual bones and change the missing virtual bones to the those new bones in animBP?

might be getting overridden by an ik or animation further down the line? Try checking the alphas of animations and set each one to 0 to see what effect they have. It's how I debug in the ALS lol

Hi, do you mean the animation from mixamo? I use a blender addon called "Mixamo converter" to add the root bone and rename the bones' name to match the mannequin. Then I import the animation and create a new skeleton asset. Then I can retarget the new animation to alsv4 mannequin. I you are using your own animation, as long as your bones' name are then same as the mannequin. You can do the same thing. If the names of those bones are not the same, you have to match the bones in the retargeting manager.
