Now that was a dynamite day in the canyon. Thanks for the video. I know the fly section of that river quite well. My personal best there for one full day is 36 in the net, back in about 2010 or so. I told my wife and son many times I want my ashes scattered in the first riffle below the barbed fence at the dam. A whole lotta great times there for sure. Thanks again.

Hello, I’m planning a visit up from south Texas at the end of august, is it a good time of the year to go?
@CombatFlyFishing Жыл бұрын
It's a tailwater, so it fishes pretty good year round. End of August should fish great. -Tim

question from a beginner; why gloves?
@CombatFlyFishing2 жыл бұрын
They just protect my hands from the constant exposure to the sun. That’s also why I wear long sleeve’s even on hot summer days. -Tim

I feel you, the stealing of a pig sticker hurts. My advice would be to bump down to a 3wt or 4wth the extra play keeps them.on the hook and they aren't to large

I used a small crappie/bluegill jig with 2lb test and a 25 dollar spincast rig here and out fished everyone 2-1

I wish I was there fishing again. No fishing like that around me here in Texas. My dad and I used to fish there almost every weekend, 35 years ago. Brings back some good memories with my dad. He passed away in 08. We were lucky enough to get to the care taker of the dam pretty well. He took us in and let us fish in the restricted area 2 or 3 times. We used bait. We liked to use rock worms if we could find any, if not we would use meal worms. Most of our fishing was between the last bridge ( culverts ) to the fence in the beginning of your video. I miss the fishing, watching the rock climbers and seeing the bald and golden eagles.

Jerry, thank you for sharing those memories with me. Sounds like your father was a good man and a great dad. -Tim

Yeah buddy! Love seeing those fish react to the shadow when that bird shoots across frame. Missing that Timmy time brother! Need to connect for real soon!

Indeed Zen Master! The river seems to be one of the only things that calms the madness these days.

Nice fish! What size tippet were you using?
@CombatFlyFishing3 жыл бұрын
The flows were up that day. I think we were using 4x and sometimes dropping to 5x.

Wait did u switch reels, and if so why?
@CombatFlyFishing4 жыл бұрын
I was fishing a 6 weight early on and I think the fast action was the reason those smaller fish kept slipping the hook. I changed to a 4 weight and began landing more fish. I often carry two rod/reel setups when I fish.

question from a novice. Do you use an indicator? When you are fishing "your" worm do you have two flies on?
@CombatFlyFishing4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the water I’m fishing, but generally I do use a strike indicator and I typically fish a two fly rig.
