Haven't got a camper, actually looking to carpet a little Fiat 126. Found 4 way stretch carpet and looked for a tutorial. A great demonstration of how to attach a carpet to anything in the van. A few things are worth mentioning. As a result of this, I understand where to use carpet to improve the looks of the interior. I question "cleaning" the carpet and wonder about the pros and cons of maintenance and cleaning. Great video, and thanks for sharing. I see an opportunity to use carpet to hide van structures and difficult spots that can be covered easily with carpet.

People who use planks or whatever to create internal surfaces are just wasting huge amounts of weight, when you can create beautiful results like these with carpeting. And this is warmer and cosier, too, in my opinion. Great work, and great primer for people thinking of doing this.

How do you deal with mould and or mildew with the carpet? It looks great, but I'd be concerned about the carpet retaining humidity.
@CombeValleyCampers5 жыл бұрын
Modern Lining carpet is very thin, unlike lining carpet of gold which had more body to hold water. I have personally not experienced mould or mildew with this version of lining carpet and I wouldn't apply carpet to a vehicle I knew to be leaking and have high levels of moisture
@kekistanihelpdesk85085 жыл бұрын
From what I understood from another van video, having an even heat level is how you avoid mold. So no temperature variations around the van. No hot spots and cold spots.

I AM IMPRESSED by your very nice work... thank you for teaching us about stretchy carpet (which I see now is some sort of petroleum product, a synthetic concoction - polyester, nylon or acrylic - extruded through a spinarette, cool air crimped and felted together) which really is just a thicker felt made with probably longer cuts of synthetic fiber, resembling long staple cotton, which is what gives it "stretch" without tearing holes in it, ya see.
@CombeValleyCampers5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for you kind words Karen, and also for your detailed explanation. I love to know how things are made and had no clue how the stretch carpet is made!
@karenmullen32105 жыл бұрын
@@CombeValleyCampers ...aw, shucks...just returnin' the favor -you explained details of how-to to me, so I just gave back. I just have one question for you: can you see little pin holes in that stretchy carpet of yours? I would dearly love to know if it does it would settle some questions in my mind about which type of felted textile product you are using and exactly why it has "give". Okay, 2 questions: Does it shrink back if you distort it (the camera didn't spend much time after it was wrenched this and that way), or must it be manually manipulated if you had to use that corner?
