Thank you for this. Your explanations were clear and so easy to understand. I love the idea of the photo copied & laminated ruler! Great idea! Now I'm ready to start my granddaughter's unicorn!

I really want to try this! Where does one get the patterns? Also, what is the length of the cuts? With you cardboard as the cut guide do you just cut to the writing?

You can find my patterns here: www.etsy.com/shop/DogEaredCreations As for the length of the cuts, it just depends on how the margin of the book is and the particular style you’re going for. I have several different lengths of cardstock I use as my cutting guide depending on the book I use.

Are you using a ruler that divides each inch into tenths? I've never seen a ruler like that. For example, 7.3. Is that 7 3/10, or 7 3/16? How do you convert?

It is centimetres and millimetres. It is the metric system. Used by almost every country in the world.

What does a half fold mean?

A half fold is where you fold the page in towards the spine, so the page is folded in half.
