I assume it's for clicks. There also isn't a word for High-Quality stationary. For example, in audio, you could say Hi-Fi, Hi-End, Studio, or Pro and before I click on something I know it's going to be about quality items which may mean they are a little more pricey than consumer grade audio. Since there is no term like this yet for stationary users, my guess is this is a good way to attract 'Pro' stationary users. Saying something is 'well-made' doesn't have any bite anymore, unfortunately.

The Kleid flat notebook is totally underrated. You can open the notebook flat, meaning that you can make cross page engineering or design drawing across pages. There is no ridge when the notebook was opened, meaning that you can draw easily like on a flat surface. The standard A4 size cross page design means that your sketch and notes fit perfectly and readily in one paper instead of two, and it can go with any other standard office documents for record and circulation.

Totally agree! I immigrated to States in 1997 and was shocked by how behind the stationary world was compared to my home country, Taiwan. I would label all my pens that immigrated with me so no one borrowed and took them. And whenever I flew by to visit TW, I would shop like crazy and get lost in heaven at stationary stores! The cashiers there could always spot people like me, studying abroad and longing for good stationaries! Now, i don’t do that anymore since I can fulfill all my needs with Yoseka Stationary, JetPens and Tokyo Pen Shop.

@@Coconuthead85 I know that feel! I didn't really start traveling until I reached adulthood. But I still had a lot of stationery supplies stolen from me when I was in elementary school. From cheap 10 colour novelty pens to those Pentel Hybrid gel pens. What made it so much more egregious was that it was known in that community that my family was poor growing up, so talking about kicking a kid when they're down. I'll most definitely be labeling my supplies if and when I return to an office environment in Canada.

I have to send physical documents out that need to be signed by multiple people and I assign a name to different color arrows and put the pointy end where they need to sign and the long end at the top with their name so they know who has to sign where according to the color assignments. They are such a wonderful tool for me!

These binders do look very specific. I work for an office supply company and I have never seen such binders (3 ring, 2 top and 2 bottom, full edge rings) or refill papers that would fit into these. They do look more refined than overengineer. But those plastic rings LOOK flimsy. Maybe they are not. But it looks like they would break easily or open too fast compared to the metal ones. The sloped edge notebook does look great!

0:30 I had a classmate bring one of these binders/notebooks (I say notebooks because they have a binder-style for singular notebooks instead) to class and I absolutely fell in love with the ability to even REMOVE THINGS if i felt upset with my notes style or a messed up paper to begin with; since then I've kept these sorts of products with me even through college. Worth the price since you can keep on using it for years.✨

I also love that you can rearrange the notebooks. I’ve always preferred loose-leaf because I’m a perfectionist and it really bothers me if I mess up and I like being able to rearrange my notes if I need to. But I also don’t like the bulkiness of traditional binders and the few flexible options are extra bulky with huge rings. I‘ve fallen in love with my Kokuyo, I just wish Japanese stationary was easier to find in-stores.

Those Kleid ones seem interesting. When I was in art school, my favorite notebooks were Canson 180 sketchbooks. A letter-sized sketchbook unfolded into a tabloid page, making pencilling much easier and portable. Nowadays I find those notebooks harder to come by, and the paper I do find not as durable. I love the idea of a single sheet being pulled out! I wonder if the binding leaves any glue residue? I wish it came in a plain too- the grid could be useful for panels and bujos, but can be a pain to edit out of drawings.

It leaves so much glue residue. I've tried removing it by rubbing my finger on it, erasing it, and using a xacto knife to scrape it off. It doesn't work. Maybe my eraser is too soft. Maybe I'll try tape.

Frankly I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Kokuyo Campus Clip Folder! I have the full color range and I adore them! I plan to get more soon. But they are great for organizing documents that aren’t either notepaper specific for the binder, or that simply cannot be hole-punched in any way. I work with a lot of stray documents in a temporary fashion, and the clip folders work incredibly well for me in my line of work.

You can actually use American paper in Japanese binders if its an A4 sized binder! Throughout university I used a Kokuyo Campus A4 sized binder, and used a Carl Gauge 30-hole/26-hole punch to punch holes into my American letter sized paper and put it in the binder. Both products available on jetpens, also amazon since jetpens doesn't have a ton of a4 binder options right now. The binders are wide enough to accommodate for the extra width of American letter sized paper.

I like the foldable ruler and the animal place markers. Though it's been nine years since I've been in a classroom, I still have my binder from my first attempt at college (and that was back in 2010. Actually, it very well might be my high school binder!). It still works great, but it is definitely heavy. I really love those slimmer notebooks that don't have middle rings (and that none of the rings are metal. I hate the loud noise of regular binders). I don't want to be wasteful because if what I still have works, I should keep it, but I might grab one or two of the slim versions for classes that don't require a lot of notes this fall.

When I was doing my engineering undergrad, professors left you NO time to write neatly, or organize notes within the lecture. Most of the notes end up being abbreviations / symbols to speed up note taking in an attempt to hopefully stay on pace with the professor. You know that feeling everyone has on the first day of a new school year? - Everyone's like I'm gonna be super productive, super organized, etc. And all that goes out the window when you see your notes after the first week of college.

The binders I dont think are practical only because binders are useful when you need to add or remove papers. And since loose leaf papers universally have 3 holes or at least in the US, regular binders could be used forever cause you could keep adding paper. Even if a paper has more holes, it will still fit in the binder. With this you would need to buy that exact type of paper or buy another binder. It just seems like a regular staples 5 subject notebook. I think they’re over engineered. But I like everything else.
