For those that are comparing this to the third-party units , it's like comparing masterpiece to chug. There are no comparisons of the two,because they're simply different aesthetics and one are high-end adult collectibles and the other are just toys to mess around with for kids and some who are curious. Dispite the hollowness, these are decent representation of G1 Devastator minus Mixmaster's truck mode and hanging cement drum lol. The head sculpts alone are spot on.

Antoine Lewis The MP's do look like a great investment, and make amazing collector items, I've yet to buy any. The toys are alot more than toys though. They began as toys and were a fun and interesting way to teach hand eye co ordination to kids. I can't weigh in on the Hasbro Takara thing. interesting though :D

I hate to say it but there were a lot of mistakes in this video. First and foremost: Hook HAS elbows. The questionable kind that we all know and hate. Longhaul HAS among the best leg articulation in this set! Very sturdy! The wings for the chest plate DO clip onto Longhaul's bed, you just need to find the thinnest part of the wing and slide it into the notch at the VERY back of the bed. And for anyone who's totally against this set, that's fine. To each their own (of course) however you must know that this toy does not feel as cheap as you think. I'm not bias. I'm 19. Did NOT grow up in the 80's so my only real bias would be liking that he's a combiner (because I have a soft spot for combiners). Despite this, while I wouldn't say he's worth the whole price plus tax, he's definitely worth a sale if it ever comes around. Definitely 100 - 120 smackers. Overall, the Devastator is what brings it together and I solemnly believe that it's what takes this set home, size and all.

You're the first reviewer to mention the plastic quality. When I got mine, that was one of the first things I noticed. While not BAD, it seems a bit softer than normal; I think this was intentional though, because if it was any more firm I have a feeling it would be extremely brittle. Because of how big this guy ends up getting, I don't think we want him shattering on us.

As what I told Cakedup83, one way I'll use to make the scrapper combined mode foot more secured if mine had broke off, is to add some super glue into the joint itself. what I mean by that is to drop some super glue into to gaps and let them permeate to the surface where the two plastic(s)/the metal rod meets. I do that a lot to my toys which have loose joints that I can't normally access to.

The wings actually does fit on Long Haul in truck mode. There are two slots at the back of the dumb bed to slot in the thin sections of the wings. Once you put all the other weapons on the wings would be last to slot in and be held by the slots and the friction of both Scavenger and Bonecrusher's missile launchers.

I would recommend putting the chest plate on before you attach the legs, to prevent that bucket clip from snapping, if you have the figure and the clip hasn’t snapped yet.

Hooks arm will cause clearance issues otherwise. 2) Connect the two connectors between Hook and Long Hault. 3) Maneuver Long Haul's arms to connect with the slots on Hook Having the arms in the right position makes this easier because it gives you better visibility with the connection, and just makes the process easier.

I got the UW version a while back,I think UW and CW use different plastics.A year or two ago I got to see and feel the CW version, and comparing it to UW, It feels a lot cheaper. 26:50 Here's the easier way to combine Scrapper to Long Haul: 1) Leave Scrapper's shins and feet loose, but away from the join, so you can clearly see Long Haul's connector. 2) Slide Long Haul onto Scavenger's joint 3) Attach the leftmost shin to Long Haul (the one that connects with the shin and the foot). This lets you take advantage of Scrapper's articulation to make the process easier. 4) Attach the other one.

28:40: Combining Scavenger is easier if you start from robot mode then do the following: 1) Point the arms up and fold in the fist 2) Rock the cab onto the shoulder, then detach the arms enough so that they clear the Devastator forearm section. 3) Hide the head, and move the Devastator forearm so that it's straight out from the body 4) Move the crane up and off of the back 5) Transform the legs back to treads, transform the hips back to robot mode 6) Align the combiner port so that the robot arm is straight out, rotate the treads so that the they form a T with the rest of the body 7) Now you have a place to actually grab onto Scavenger and apply enough force to push the peg into the combiner port 8) Once attached, rotate the arm so that it's straight up. This makes it easier to attach the treads to Devastator 9) At this point you should STRONGLY consider attaching the left wing of the chest plate and the core of the chest plate to devastator, as having the arm out of the way gives you better visibility into getting the chest plate pinned to the legs 10) rework the arm so that it's in the correct combined mode form.

Kobalta Also, he doesn't even need the scoop to be stable as a leg. Fold out the fists and they'll lock in at a 90 degree angle to the solid side, rotate the forearm so the fists point towards the back, and they increase the heel stability. My Devastator is standing entirely on Mixmaster as a whole, and Scrapper's arms. There's not even anything wrong with the scoop except that I've got it plugged in at angle or something so it's like a few millimeters or so off the ground, and he's perfectly stable.

so far i broke a peg on mixmaster on the tip of his foot. the other pegs appear tough so it doesn't affect his transformation at all. one of long hauls shoulder tabs got stressed when i tried to disconnect it from beneath of hook's purple chest. the other one came out easily. i don't even attach them in combined mode anymore. and i don't peg in scrapper's shovel foot anymore since i've seen your video. it holds up in a normal pose just standing there. so you aren't the only one with problems here.

It's frustrating because I really want to like them. I LOVE how they look almost spot on to the G1 cartoon character models, and Devy himself looks great. I don't even mind the limited articulation. What kills me though is ALL THE HALLOW/THIN PARTS. I know the plastic itself is decent, but the thin parts look awful. And that particular shade of green, while it looks good in theory, tends to make the thin parts look EVEN THINNER T.T

So Hasbro cheaping out on scrapper seems to be a trend… in the Tonkanator reissue of devastator, it’s super hard to get scrapper clipped into place without him falling off when trying to stand the figure up. So it seems they have been doing this annoying oversight for a while.

Long haul actually can carry the wings. They clip into those little clippy...thingies on the back middle of the truck bed. Also, hook does have elbows..... the only one that doesn't is scrapper... and kinda long haul. Aaaaand you didn't attach the combiner arm bit to the back of Bonecrusher's robot mode. Totally transformed long haul's robot mode legs wrong.... You don't bend them like that, those joints as his knees. :P Sounds like the "point of failure" was user error. If you were putting too much downward pressure on the feet while trying to put the chest plate on, it would break the tab. That's not really a design issue.... Haven't seen a single other person break that part, so making it out to be some kind of design flaw with the toy is a bit misleading....

@@jjsquire706 buddy I've had a bunch of breaks. I got a 4 year old that loves Transformers so for the past year or so I'd have to buy him one of the same if I got a new one. He has had a few accidents but in the most part there isn't a Hasbro or Takara figure that we have that he can't transform easily.(He's gonna be a lifelong collecter). Anyway I saved and saved for a Fanstoys Cyclonus aka Quietus and my wife knows that none of my stuff is off limits so while I'm at work he gets the extremely expensive Quietus down and basically ties it in a knot. We have the Kingdom version so he assumed the transformation was the same.....it ain't lol-so Cyclonus is at the doctors office right now. I'm hoping like hell this guy I sent him to can fix it. - - - long answer but it's a good one. 🤑

Bonecrusher should now be in a T shape 6) use the shovel to cover the head. 7) Attach to devastator 8) move the shovel fully onto the shoulder to get it out of the way 9) Transform the arm for combined mode, then rotate it so it's pointing straight up 10) Attach the treads to the body, but make sure the waist stays loose until the treads are positioned correctly and are connected to all of the tabs. This will give you flexibility needed to maneuver the treads. 11) If you have the partial chest shield attached, attach the last wing by sliding it into the core of the shield, then attach it to the threads.

To be honest? This is an unpopular opinion but this set is really growing on me. Yes, the robots on their own are a little weak, but I still do very much like them. But the combined mode is fantastic. I think that somewhat makes up for the poor individual robot modes.

I was looking forward to the Unite Warriors release but after seeing the Scrapper issue that both you and John Garringer experienced, that was more than enough to make me cancel. W Gemini With posability I was more referring to the posability of the individual figures, not the combinations which is a different matter. I'm thinking they tried to be a bit too G1-faithful with Devastator. I would've gladly seen a bit of liberty taken as they already had a functional limb attachment system for the other combiners. Why not use it here? The constructicons might look different, sure, but I think an updated appearance would look nice. The other combiners are a bit bulky, but it doesn't really ruin the aesthetic for me. Their feet also give an advantage over this, and also generally the usage of the foot/hand guns instead of that heap of parts Devastator uses.

***** Because they suck? Not only their feet/hands are awkward in individual figures, they also don't look good in combined mode (too big for hands and too small for feet). The whole point of devastator is that they don't need dedicated feet for combined mode. If you are really looking for feet for devastator, then stop looking, you will never get that. No first party or third party producer would ever produce a devastator like that, if they did, few would buy them, because that wouldn't be devastator. The Generation line is for G1 lovers (for example, Arielbot's plane mode suffers to achieve a G1 look), it's not for everybody. As for devastator, I also feel it's lacking, but it is what it is. There's no more cost effective alternatives. Green Giant is still the best version out there IMO, but it's 3 times as expensive and it also made plenty of comprises (like devastator's head being visible and individual bots are not very constructicon like). Hasbro clearly prioritized the G1 likeness and the combined mode, they are quite successful on both counts.

W Gemini As hands they're fine, as feet a bit small. True, feet like that aren't really for Devastator the way he is now, but he's been that way since the 80's. All I'm saying is that some variation would be refreshing, doesn't mean classic Devastator has to be forgotten. There was actually 1 figure that pulled off a different constructicon combiner, and that was Buildron/Constructicon Maximus from TF Energon/Superlink. But to each their own. I didn't grow up with G1, so I don't that nostalgia trip others do. I've just enjoyed seeing functional combiners with Superion, Menasor and Defensor, but then this Devastator gets thrown among them, making me question the reasoning behind it. That's just my opinion.

+Monarth classics devestator isn't that good of a devestator ib the first place they should of just made 10 molds for the orginal 2 combiners instead of repaints plus devestator was actually in the comics of IDW robots in disguise (not that tv show neither the 2015 one!)

as a set I don't think they are worth it but some of them actually work for example bonecrusher he needed paint but still looks good but still if you have enough time and skill you can try to paint them
