Phil do you clean the blank after lasering with IPA? The spew that condenses down-wind from the laser is often tough to get off, although your shellac likely makes it easier to get off?

I usually only need to wipe them down with a dry towel. It’s rarely at problem. If you are making a lot of ash then your power is most likely to high

Sorry for my bad English .... but the safety for your laser is not good. The most reason for low vision for people over 60 is the macular degeneration ... the area with the highest visual acuity get an irreversible damage and you can’t read any more. With the laser you can get the same irreversible damage, too. ... your Laser has no Protection for reflection of the beam. Just eyeglasses could be dangerous because of reflection. Please build a cabin and buy the correct laser safety glas/ protection shield (no China product) so that your eyes are safety. I’m an eye doctor from Germany and I bought my safety glas/protection shield in USA..... and not in China ...

Since your blanks are all the same length, seems like that jig would be well served with a stop (like you use on your miter saw)

The clamping jig is there. I have the 10” extension to that I can get close to the blade. I could have used the table saw
