Just bought one now, I need two. The Alienator was my first Blacktron set

Do like the Alienator with gwp cockpit, but think the wings on gwp cockpit are to long. Maybe swap gwp cockpit wings with Renegade cockpit wings then use gwp cockpit for Alienator. May try that when I receive my 2 copies of Renegade. Thanks for the inspiration. 👍

The Renegade looks soo much better with dual cockpits up front.

Very cool! I can't wait to get this set! Although PLEASE redo this video with a horizontal camera!

If I understand correctly, is it possible to turn main part of Alienator around, attach GwP thruster to the part where cockpit should go, then attach cockpit where one of the thrusters should go while attaching relay component and/or GwP storage to other port?

You’d have to rebuild the connection point from the GWP since it uses a different connection system (which you can easily do with the pieces from this set), but otherwise all of that should be doable

I haven´t gotten my Renegade set parcel yet, but I´m thinking about straight-up exchanging all the clip&bar connection points for the old Technic hole&pin system. The modular parts were so sturdy and durable back then, I don´t know what those fragile modified clip plates are meant to achieve here.

EXCELLENT MINISUPERHEROTODAY,

You are free to do that! But I know the designer did this system because it is sturdier. As well as (I think at least) the clip system reduces the wobble of the modules, unlike the technic hole&pin system, which could be a bit of an issue on a larger set like the Renegade. Plus, have you actually had any of these clips break recently? I haven't, but you may be less fortunate? (And by recently I mean the clips from recent sets, not 10 or 20 year old clips you used in a moc or something recently.) Because it seems like an unfair judgement to say this system is bad because it uses the clips, when the clips might actually be stronger than they used to be. Those are just my thoughts, though.

@josephrowlee Fair point. No, I actually didn't have a clip breaking on me, but I did find the attachment on the GWP Blacktron Cruiser rather finnicky. I guess I'm going to try both and decide what works better for me. Maybe my preference for Technic pins is also part of my 80s nostalgia, but using black friction pins I've never had the impression of wobble nor the notion of overstressing parts. Thanks for your perspective.

@@klausM54 Cool! Yeah, the Cruiser is maybe a bit finnicky. Some of its modules only have two clips, some have three. I may someday modify it to have the clips better match the Renegade, with a total of four clips connecting, and having it be perfectly modular with the Renegade. But we'll see; I don't usually modify my LEGO sets. 80s nostalgia is understandable (although I am too young to have that, unfortunately); and yea the black friction pins don't wobble, that makes sense, too. No problem!
