I gotta love how the other version has a feeling where it's viewed by someone who can actually empathize but this version sounds so distant, cold, apathetic and/or desensitized. It's like this song is how one of the chronos soldiers would see the ending.

Я можно сказать тоже пришёл после его видоса но я прошёл игру много раз до него. И не знаю почему но после его видео я решил снова скачать и перепройти игру

This is so much more powerful than the one we got. It's sad that this got cut, but comparing this song to the rest of the game, it doesn't really fit the style

Is that actually official? Imo "what the fires burned" makes more sense. In the blue room, Zero seems to show remorse for burning the villages, so "what the fires burned" could be metaphorical for the regrets of the nulls, which is what the rest of the lyrics seem to mean as well.

I prefer this version, but I understand what people mean when they say it doesn’t fit the rest of the game. I think that giving the Nulls a “voice” in the form of the lyrics in the song work really well and provide so much good insight into their actions, and in general this song kind of just fits the trauma of war in general. The version we got is still beautiful though, and it’s out of character for the game in the way that it’s supposed to be.

This version is much more explicit and dark, it explains directly what's zero is thinking But The actual in-game version is less dark but more sad, let me explain, the actual version we got doesn't have any lyrics (just like in the game no character actually talk) and therefore give this more uncanny/mysterious vibe to the song. Secondly, the lyrics explain things that the player will understand by itself, we can see the fire, we are tolf that he killed farmers and unarmed people, and most importantly the song just like zero doesn't have the words to describe the deepness of his sadness

I can't agree more, it fits the game perfectly in that sense too. I mean, we are never told the whole story anywhere throughout the game. We gather pieces here and there and then make our own interpretation of its meaning, that's a huge part of KZ's atmosphere imo.

While this version is hauntingly beautiful and I wish it had more lyrics (and not only 2 verses), I'm happy it's not the version in the game. The instrumental version has some extra notes that don't work well with lyrics
