One of the most beautiful songs ever written about the ravages of war, most of the world hates war, but the world is forever at war like right now 2024😭

David Byron's excellent interpretation of this song is simply unbelievable. They truly had a courage to include this on their first studio album. Uriah Heep was always so under appreciated in the 1970s although they had a tremendous fan base in Finland and Scandinavia.

My dad used to play this for me and my sisters as children when we were going to sleep. I didn’t understand the words(non-native English speaker), but this song always made me fall asleep. Now as an adult, I still feel calm and at peace in the exact same way as I did as a child when I hear this song.
@sashaneemoht87645 жыл бұрын
I thought this an oddball song for them back in the early 70's: now, I'm glad they gave us such a strange brew for it displays the quality of David Byron's vocal skills. I get a pain in my chest when I think how we lost him so young, such talent gone. These remaster files are GREAT! I close my eyes and dissolve the intervening time and feel the pleasure in the fun again, and that's the beauty of memory.... they LIVE on ...
@lisanatividad80114 жыл бұрын
not sure if you notice but as the song progressed so was the volume of their voice, you find him yelling at the end, in addition you can hear the father in on the right speaker and Melinda answering on the left.

Daddy daddy, come and look Come and see what I have found A little ways away from here While digging in the ground Come away Melinda Come in and close the door It's nothing just a picture book They had before the war Daddy daddy, come and see Daddy, hurry, do! There's someone in a pretty dress And she's all grown up just like you Someone is your mommy You had before the war Daddy daddy, tell me please Tell me if you can Why things can't be the way they were before this war began The answer lies in yesterday before they had the war
