Frequently, I feel bad for David. Emily has so much passion and insight to share, and I love it! When I was in Young Women's some time ago, I attended a Relief Society class. On that day, the teacher put a piece of paper on the chalk board that said, "You choose to be chosen." Those words stuck with me, and with time they changed my life. They provided me with a greater understanding of who I am and who I can be as I intentionally choose God each day in the little things and in the big things. Now, whenever I have the opportunity I always share those words with others and try to help them understand that when we choose God, God will choose us and work in us in ways we could have never imagined! This is something that can be life changing if we let it be! You choose to be chosen!

No one will probably see this as it's been a week or so since it has been broadcasted, but as you were talking about our Savior coming suddenly, I remembered a dream I had a few months ago that was so awesome. I was at school ( I'm the librarian) and I was kneeling down on the sidewalk right by the grass tying a little ones shoe. I looked up and above my shoulder -there He was, coming!! He was waaay up in the sky with massive mansions behind him (think of hundreds of Disney castles all gold and brilliant). That's all I remember. I know Dreams are usually super weird, but I felt like that one was a gift. Just proof to me that it will be suddenly- right in the middle of our normal lives. ( Whatever normal will be then) I can't really share it with anyone because soon as you start listening to someone's dream it's like going down a rabbit hole. But at least Ive said it out loud,... kind of a testimony that I noticed and that I haven't forgot.

The Lord taught me that 'Choice' means to become like a ripened piece of fruit......the most choice piece of fruit. It is a choice WE make ourselves to follow Him. To put his will first, over our own humanity. Many can receive callings; but how many allow God to take the wheel? How many pray about every interaction and decision? Allowing God to be intimately involved in the details? Sometimes people have a hard time because they say this person or that was so mean and ignorant to them; while in a position of leadership. Therefore, they must not have been called of God. In reality they HAVE been called they are just choosing to not become choice. God allows us to make those choices and like the people who burned the scriptures and peoples that Alma was teaching, he also allows those choices to bless or condemn them.

Regarding the lost tribes, I always find it interesting how many in the Church surround the idea with a lot of "imagery" or other watered down perceptions of the subject. Do you not remember that when Christ was speaking to the Nephites he told them that he was going to visit the 10 Tribes and show himself to them in the same way he did with the Nephites? And that the Father had "led" them away and "hidden" them from the world? What do you think He did when He visited them? Go around and knock on doors? They are in one body. Our Father knows where they are. John is with them. They have their own prophets and scripture, which they will share with us on their return. Isaiah and Jerimiah say that their return will be bigger in scope than the parting of the Red Sea for the children of Israel. The entire world will see the spectacular event. But all of that is dismissed and ignored, largely, by you and others. What you have said about them was refuted by President Joseph Fielding Smith. Said he, "First let us say something further about the restoration of the ten lost tribes of Israel. Strange to say, notwithstanding all that has been written, there are many members of the Church who think that the lost tribes were scattered among the nations and are now being gathered out and are found through all the stakes and branches of the Church. They reach this conclusion because the general opinion is that these tribes went into the North, and it is the northern countries from whence most of the gathered Israel has been found. All I know about it is what the Lord has revealed... He has also made it very clear and definite that these lost people are separate and apart from the scattered Israelite's now being gathered out. If this be not true, then the commission of Moses to the Prophet Joseph Smith is without meaning."

I think these are in my top 5 favorite sections! Maybe because I love the OT, also. However, at the end David states that section 134 is telling us to listen to our government leaders. That is not what it says. In particular pay attention to verse 5. We are bound to sustain and uphold the government where we live WHILE protected in our inherent and inalienable rights. That is conditional language, and it continues through verse 5 and throughout this section. Multiple times we are taught that the purpose of government is to protect the individual person and the sacred freedom of conscience. Verse 2 shows how government can exist in peace. It is interesting that the three specific things that are mentioned that government should protect are free exercise of conscience, right and control of property, and the protection of life. Verse 6 states that rulers are to protect the innocent and punish the guilty. The opposite of everything God revealed to Joseph Smith, about what government should do and what they are doing, is what we see in our day. We are to stand for truth and liberty, regardless of what our government leaders say, so no-do not just "listen to your government leaders". It is better to follow God than man. I'm looking forward to the OT for many reasons, but one is for all of the examples we will be reading and studying about how the people of God RESISTED evil and corrupt government rulers and laws. It's in all other books of scripture, too, but there are MANY in the OT. We live in such a day that standing against evil is our lot, too, so we can draw on their example and their strength.

My sister in law and I were just talking about the 144,000 the last two days and about how we think that those numbers are figurative and representative. The way it's written in Revelations, it says the "100" and "40" and "4000." So she looked up those numbers meanings in Hebrew and it's really cool. If it's a correct interpretation, then the 144,000 are those who lived faithfully through trials and tribulations and learned from them. Super cool!

Hi Emily! I just read your entry in the Don't Miss This In The Doctrine and Covenants on section 133. Having been a devoted subscriber to this KZbin channel, I have followed the sad story of your friend that struggled so with cancer. The story of your love for her (I believe her name was Chris?) and that morning in your prayer meeting when it all seemed so overwhelming really hit home with me. Your 2 word plea echoes my own - SEND JESUS! I was wondering if you'd mind if I had a T-shirt printed with the same words? I wrote it down on a sticky note and have it placed on my bathroom mirror but I would love to have it on a shirt that I can wear on my hardest days. I have a chronic illness that I've struggled with for a number of years, and, quite frankly, it has worn a blister on my soul. There are days when I just want it all to be over, too - those 2 words really do say it all on those days. Anyway, if you wouldn't mind, I would love to get that shirt printed up for me, too. Also, just as a side note, the other sticky note that I have on my mirror is, "Amazing Grace!" It is with the Lord's amazing grace that I get through most all my days - I always want to be reminded to be thankful and humble for all the strength, endurance, tender mercies, and love He pours down on me everyday. I send my gratitude to you and David for all the work you both do in bringing these lessons to all of us! You will never know what a God-send it has been to me and how very much I appreciate all you do. You are both in my prayers - in gratitude for all you do, the technology that makes it possible, and that you will be blessed abundantly for your diligent efforts to expound the scriptures and help with understanding and appreciation. I would love to meet you both someday so I could tell you personally how grateful I am to you. You are both a great blessing to me.

Since I have been listening to them from the New Testament year when they started, I can tell you that they only did the extra products because listeners kept asking. The first year David did free worksheets that you had to print off yourself. People didn’t like that and wanted a book, then kept asking for other things. It does get a little repetitive but they have new listeners all the time. And you don’t have to purchase any of the items. I think Deseret Book should give them an award 😉 because they probably helped their bottom line 😅.
