The CFM curriculum the past 4 years has been life changing. Before that we as Latter-day Saints had reading assignments for weekly Sunday school but the CFM curriculum was a new focus in the church to be “home centered church supported” program. Families and individuals have answered that call to make scripture study a very intentional regular daily practice. It has been life changing. Russell M Nelson who we consider Gods mouthpiece in the earth today along with the quorum of the 12, put this plan into place a year before the pandemic. And proved to be a blessing as churches were shut down during the pandemic. So grateful for the scriptures. I know that God speaks to us in them. I’m grateful for the Savior Jesus.

LDS member here. How I understand our churches teachings on salvation that would be different from what Pastor Jeff here has shared is that we teach that we are saved by the atonement of Jesus but still have to fulfill certain ordinances and do good works. So in that sense I would have to disagree that we believe in the same way of salvation.

Not only that, but it can have relavance across cultures and age divides. And, that even in my own life I can read a passage many times and have it teach me different things depending on the needs I'm facing in my life at the time. There is one of the ways I feel my needs being met by our Father in Heaven, like we talked about earllier in this video. Indeed God is all Amazing! Looking forward to your future videos. :)

LDS people pray whenever there is a need. It can be very conversational. We are encouraged to pray before the day starts. We pray before meals. We can pray in our heart silently anywhere, in our cars, in our homes, at work, outside, etc. We are encouraged to pray before we retire in the evening. We are encouraged to pray as families and show that example to our children and loved ones, so they can know the value of prayer in their lives.

Such common ground, dialogue, and learning. This is what we all need to be doing at this time of such division and wickedness in the world. Those of us who love our Savior, Jesus Christ, and are trying to live according to His teachings (no matter our denomination), need to join in unity against the adversary and the absolute evil surrounding us. We don’t have to agree with every point of doctrine, we need to unify together on what we agree about. We need each other, and we need to Love One Another as Jesus Loved and Loves Us!!! This is the way that I was taught in the church since a child, I am now 72 years old and have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS since I was 9 years old. I knows Heavenly Father knows my heart. He knows all the things that I've went through at different times of my life and knows things that upset me and things that make me happy. Usually im happy most of the time as my life runs smoothly because I put my faith and trust in him. I know that he hears my prayers and often answers my prayers though sometimes not in the way that I wanted them answered but later, find out that it was the right answer. Heavenly Father is all knowing and knows what is best for me, and I accept that. I love him with all my heart. And tell Him that every night as I kneel in prayer. I know that he loves me, he knows my name, I am his daughter.

Pastor Jeff, I can't say enough about how awesome this is. Please keep it up. One thought on prayer from an LDS perspective. In the LDS Bible Dictionary on prayer it says: "As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7:7-11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship." That sums it up so well for me.

Would love to see this type of study done as an open mic where we could all discuss together our thoughts as we read through. Absolutely love the sermon on the mount. Been teaching it to my high school students and they've been very engaged. Very grateful for your example of charity for Latter-day Saints. Joseph Smith had good fruits and he was a true prophet :) That is very true, we must be very careful to not be deceived. We will be rewarded according to our works. Jesus taught this in Matthew 16:27. We also would never be clean from the sins we committed if it weren't for Jesus. In order to come unto Him we can change through His gospel, by making sacred covenants with Him He said "if ye love me, keep my commandments"...so how do we keep the great commandment to love God? We keep the commandments. We have faith in Jesus Christ, we repent of our sins, we follow Christ's example to be baptized by immersion for the remission of sins (except a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God), receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end. This is Christ's gospel and gives us the deepest relationship with Him.

Thank you for your generosity of heart. For me, when I want to talk to Heavenly Father, I pray. When I want Him to talk to me, I listen, but I also go straight to the scriptures. He’s spent thousand of years counseling his children, I often find my answers there and also from what we consider living prophets. I believe in counseling with the Lord in all my doings and then moving my feet to be on the path of listening. That’s part of how I pray in addition to what others have commented. Morning, evening, expressing gratitude for meals, be on my knees if possible and in private. I pray with my spouse daily and before we give of our time to teach or serve at church, we ask for Father in Heaven’s help and try to express gratitude when done. Truly that sweet time of prayer has helped and continues to help me refine my natural man character.

Thanks for doing these videos. LDS are not used to ministers but this is great. I miss having a pastor who shares each week since I joined the church. I love when many faiths come together.

There are many Seminary/institute teachers or BYU religion professors who publish weekly videos similar to this on KZbin to help with Come Follow Me as well. I learn so much from them each week! You should look them up!

I really appreciate and relate to what you said about how it can be easy to get complacent when things are going well and our physical needs are met (I'm paraphrasing because it was some minutes back). The last few years have been the first time in a long time where things have been going really well with work and having what we need, and I keep catching myself becoming so lazy about spiritual things. Kind of in this comfortable mode that all is well and I forget where all of it really came from and what's important. I've been really wanting to do better lately so when you said that it stuck out to me and was a great reminder.

You may be uncomfortable, but you are blessing so many by your willingness to stretch and speak to the LDS population and others about faith, your beliefs and the beliefs of others. Don't degrade yourself. Your videos come across in a good manner that is serving a higher purpose to everyone that has the opportunity to hear your Insight and point of views. I once made the comment in church that I can speak to Hundreds in my job everyday and never feel nervous, ut the podium and pulpit always makes me a nervous. It is not always how well we know a topic, but how we feel others that know the topic better will judge us once we open our mouths. Keep opening your mouth and sharing even if nay sayers appear. The devil only goes quiet when we open our mouth and teach spiritually and enlighten others.

Love what you said, Jeff about false prophets taking the focus off Christ and putting it on themselves. The Book of Mormon adds to our understanding with this... “Priestcrafts are that men preach and set themselves up for a light unto the world, that they may get gain and praise of the world; but they seek not the welfare of Zion” (2 Nephi 26:29).

Do not worry - here the Saviour is asking us to put our complete trust in the Father. He knows what we need, He knows us completely, He is telling us, "I've got this, I've got you." When we let go and let God prevail in our life, we can accomplish so much more. When we worry and stress about things we actually get in our own way. Heavenly Father is saying to us, get out of the way and trust in Me, believe Me, and follow Me.

Pastor Jeff, thank you so much for all the time and effort you are putting into learning about our faith and teaching us about yours. I didn't get in on the live stream but I listened to it afterwards and I have watched all of your videos. May our Heavenly Father send down many blessings for you as you bridge the gap between our faiths. I wish we could clone you.

Couple things come to my mind...fasting is a way for us to feel closer to God...as a church we fast the first Sunday of every month from Saturday pm to Sunday pm...we are asked to give what we would have spent on meals to the poor...fasting to me also blesses me with spiritual power as I go without and pray for my needs or the needs of others. We have local warehouses as well as the big warehouse in slc where food is stored and distributed.

Prayer is not just a once or twice a day. I try to converse and feel close to our Father in Heaven through out each day, this helps me avoid the outside influences that like to hound a person. I was taught to use respectful forms of words as I communicate with my Heavenly Father. I agree with John as he said we use tender words of respect. Jeff I am so grateful when you stop by my home to discuss the gospel, our Savior and Heavenly Father. God bless you always.

This is your best video yet. Please keep helping us with come follow me. Just like you did today was great. For me, I usually just read through the Bible chapters and don’t look at the come follow me manual that much, but I liked that you showed it and had respect for what we are learning and brought up good new insights for us, such as why we close the prayer in the name of Jesus. I wonder if you also believe you are a son of God, such as an adopted son by being in a right relationship with him. That would be very similar to our belief. I think we have everything in common that is important and I appreciate you so much. For seminary, the 9th to 12th graders basically go through the come follow me chapters as a class, either before school or during the school day in a separate building as a released time non-credit class if they are in Utah. I would also like to meet your wife online, if she doesn’t mind. I would love to hear her testimony. I am glad you like king Benjamin. Keep doing what you are doing.

Thank you, Jeff. This was a nice discussion. My favorite part of Matthew 6 was at the end, focusing on how God is dependable and faithful toward us, so we can depend on and have faith in Him. Great point about how we can learn from Him how to better parent our children.

Jeff, I enjoyed your live stream and the Spirit was there. Being an active member of the LDS faith, I agreed with everything you had to say. Surprised?? I was worried when you got to talking about false prophets. I was like, “oh, here we go.” But I enjoyed your insights to the scriptures and we’ll keep watching.

Hi Jeff, I like what you have going on here. Prayer is certainly conversational. There is a reverence in prayer. When you read through Enos it is a story of prayer and being inspired what to pray for. I strive to speak and listen. It comes in consistent times but also in others as needed. Sitting, standing, kneeling even walking about.

I just missed this live but I love this and greatly approve. :) I'm a teacher of 16-18 year olds in the LDS church as a Sunday School teacher and I've been LOVING teaching the New Testament this year with them. It's fun to watch you look at some of our other materials in addition to our book of scripture. :)

I love that Jesus always backs up the things he commands with a reason. He doesn’t just say “don’t worry”. He says “don’t worry because”… and he spends more time explaining why than he does explaining the commandment. This example he gives in how he lays down commandments helps me as a father when I am tying to get my kids to obey something that is important.
