Tyler was my religion professor at BYU. I took an extra semester of the New Testament solely because he was such a wonderful teacher, and the New Testament has become almost my favorite book of scripture because of him. I looked for resources from him before when CFM first started. While I'm sad it took me so long to find, I'm so grateful he is making these videos!

I didn’t really like the Old Testament before you two taught it. I love it now. I’m eternally grateful. I’m a new widow who’s been homebound for the last 15 years leaving only to go to the doctor or hospital. Studying alone, always alone, I haven’t been lifted up or rejoiced in the scriptures like I have since finding you! May God bless you & yours abundantly as you enrich all of our lives bringing us closer to our Savior through your insights into these living scriptures!👏🏼🙏🏼🎶🌹🌹

Thank you Taylor Halverson for also answering my question about conflicts of the Middle East being both yes and no related to ancient times. I love the Old Testament and love learning more and more each time these Scriptures are covered. This newest week covers one of my favorite Kings, King Josiah. Thank you and Tyler Griffin (again) for these wonderful lessons and explanations.

Thank you so much for the insight on the double portion of the Spirit that Elisha asked Elijah and his last miracle in chapter 13. I had never thought of it like that and now I have a renewed commitment to read from prophets of old and be in contact with "their bones."

Thank you very much for your lesson today. I was deeply touched by the mirales performed by the Lord thru Elisha, especially Naaman`s healing and the chariots coming from Heaven to help Israel. Aren´t we so blessed today to have the Prophet of the Lord guiding us? Watching these video lessons have brought nearer to our Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus. Thank you!

I deeply appreciate the context, the Hebrew lessons and geography that help me make sense of these stories. I appreciate even more the way you extract them to what we can do today. I love Taylor's observation that the "servants" are sometimes wiser than the political leaders and Tyler's reminder that we, too, can be instruments in God's hands.

I was thinking when Tyler spoke at the end of this lesson about the revival we get when we come in contact with the prophets of old, the dead, that it is the same with deceased relatives. When we remember them, honor them, gather them and do their temple ordinances for them we are revived and refreshed and strengthened in our spirit.

Mind-blowing lesson!! So many connections to Jesus. I feel so dumb not have put it all together before. That's what I love about reading the scriptures year after year - always new insights, connections. All the connections to Moses and Joshua as well! Naaman means pleasantness - so does Naomi! Whoa, cool connection about how unpleasant both lives were, but then made pleasant by the blessings of God. Gehazi reminds me of Ananias and Sapphira - maybe his punishment was only skin deep, rather than physical death, because maybe he was also not as spiritually dead? No way to know, but I'm grateful to know that there is hope for us all.

I really enjoyed listening to this presentation. Elijah and Elisha are simply amazing, and I love getting to know them through my scripture reading, and through CFM. The relationship between the two Prophets is beautiful. I love the parallels between Joshua and Elisha. The story about the children mocking Elisha is very interesting. I agree with the points presented about this particular part of the narrative. I think we don't have the entire context for this. Even though it may come across as a cruel punishment for the children, we still don't know the whole reason behind why the children were killed by bears, I just take it that this happened for a reason. I loved what Bro Griffin said about the Lord using us as instruments in his hands, these insights are simply golden, and is food for the soul. I loved the story of Naman, I think there are so many beautiful lessons in this one story that we can relate to. Especially when we need the Lord's help and are in need of a miracle. We tend to think of scenarios and ways of how the Lord is going to answer our prayers, or even if it is his will to have our prayers answered. This story is a reminder yet again that the Lord has his ways, and that we are always on the Lord's timetable. It definitely boils down to trust. You know one of the many things I love about CFM is that these presentations are all about helping us on our journeys. The counsel and insights relate to our everyday challenges. I can see that God is very much invested in our daily and momentary struggles. I know he is there in the thick of our trials even when we may not always feel him near. Thank you Bro Griffin and Bro Halverson for a wonderful presentation. I loved learning about Elisha, and I am looking forward to meeting all our beautiful Prophets one day ❤️.

Loved this lesson so much! Truly the Bible is inspired text. I’ve come to have this feeling that even if all the stories aren’t perfectly accurate, I feel they were persevered in the way that they were for specific lessons and teachings that are 100% relevant and useful, even thousands of years later. I really don’t care if at some point we all find out that some of the stories were exaggerated or even made up. The power in which they convey messages of Christ are very real and they teach TRUE principals of happiness. That’s what I’ve come to love about the Old Testament this year! In some of its inaccuracy you still find incredibly inspired, and deep doctrine if you have the eyes to see and ears to hear what it’s actually teaching, and that is why I believe we can call it the word of God, even if it’s not historically accurate. It conveys his heart and his will for his children. If it points us towards Christ, or his servants, it is of God.

"Go up, Go up." The youths were mocking more than just Elisha. They were mocking his story of the ascension of Elijah. It shows a great disbelief in Elisha's story, which means they did not believe in God.

Is it not possible anymore to watch this program without having to watch ads? I have quit watching almost everything on youtube because the ads are almost non-stop on other channels. I was watching this morning on my tv and ads keep popping up. Does anyone know if there is a way to watch this without ads? I love watching in the morning, along with scripture study. Taylor and Tyler are wonderful teachers, their knowledge and personal insights have helped me strengthen my own knowledge and also my testimony. Having to watch ads for cat food and other items takes away a little from my morning study.

I haven't noticed this happening before on this particular channel, but I have on others once in awhile. I'm almost 3/4 of the way through this episode and haven't had one ad yet. Maybe it's because I subscribed to this channel? Sometimes on my cell I do get ads, but I am watching on my desktop computer; maybe that makes a difference and maybe it doesn't.

Hello! We don’t put ads on our videos. KZbin puts them on our videos without our consent. KZbin is a third party platform and therefore we are at their mercy in regards to what they show on our videos. The reason ads are showing is because there is content in the episode that is being claimed by its copyright owner. We do everything we can to prevent this from happening, but sometimes things slip through the cracks. We are committed to giving our viewers the ad free experience, and please recognize that when ads do show up, we didn’t intend it. Thanks for watching and we hope this explains where we are coming from.

This is probably not a very intelligent , wise, question. BUT, from all I am hearing in today's news. Are the Ancient wars that began in the OT not still going on today? Between Israel, Jordan, Palestinians and possible others. I know only what I read and hear. I do Not have any experience in these cultures or the back grounds or any such in my personal life. I just wonder, and have often wondered, about it. Or are these modern day places, names of places, people, different today? Thanks for all the awesome lessons I eagerly follow each week. I learn bit by bit each time. (and clearly have MUCH more to learn still). Thanks to whom ever can tell me more and, or, answer my question(s).

@scripturecentralofficial 2 жыл бұрын
This is a great question! Even though the same wars in the OT are not still being fought, there is much contention between cultures and peoples in the holy land. All of the sides have mud on their face, and even though names have changed throughout the centuries, much of this conflict is based on ancient rivalries and conflicts. In spite of the divisions, it is very cool to see individuals in the holy land who are working to bridge gaps and bring understanding. The point is that there are both good people and bad people on all sides of the conflict.
@taylorhalverson3052
@taylorhalverson3052 2 жыл бұрын
Great questions. The conflicts in the middle east today, especially between Israelis and Palestinians, are very recent (about 70 years or so). the conflicts are over land, water, and resources. Sometimes the sides call upon the ancient past or even the Bible regarding their claims, but the conflicts are not really based in any ancient conflict or the Bible. These are modern conflicts over resources as are most conflicts in human history.

It’s interesting that leprosy affects the nerves causing the person to have no feeling in the areas on the body where it appears. Spiritual symbolism? What is spiritual leprosy? Maybe that’s when you no longer feel the spirit because of your sins.

Elders Young and Kimball were joined en route by George A. Smith. As they traveled, Brigham reached into his trunk and always found just enough money for the next stagecoach fare. He thought Heber was replenishing the fund but later discovered that he had not. The brethren had started their trip with $13.50 in donations, yet they spent more than $87 on coach fares. They had no idea how the additional money had gotten into the trunk “except by some unseen agent from the Heavenly world to forward the promulgation of the Gospel.”7 The brethren stayed a few weeks in upstate New York due to sickness. Brigham Young became sick in Moravia, New York, and was nursed to health by the Caleb Haight and William Van Orden families. Brother Van Orden also made an overcoat for George A. Smith, who had only a quilt around his shoulders to keep him warm. @@hardybeverly I couldn't find it but it is recorded in church history about the first Apostle who went to London, not England, Apostles went to England before going into London. Satan himself came in on him and tried to kill him, three men in white showed up and cast Satan out then healed the Apostle, that is a truly marvelous miracle.
