That quote from Elder Maxwell hit hard! “Once the telestial sins are left behind and henceforth avoided, the focus falls ever more on the sins of omission… only greater consecration can correct these omissions, which have consequences just as real as do the sins of commission. Many of us thus have faith to avoid the major sins of commission, but not enough faith to sacrifice our distracting obsessions or to focus on our omissions.” I’m so glad I have a Savior that is so eager and able to work with me, guide me, heal me, and help me in my efforts to become more consecrated!

I have learned more from this series than I have in all my over 50 years in the church. Here, I receive in depth instructions, deeper insight into the fulness of the Gospel. I recommend this series to everyone that will listen. Thanks to these two brothers, Tyler and Taylor for their effort in teaching in such a beautiful, and instructional way, always with the Spirit. The D&C has come alive this year because of these two men. Thanks again, Brethren.

Thank you so much for all the light and knowledge you give every week. This is my favourite section. The plan of salvation, when revealed to me by the missionaries was confirmed to me by the Holy Ghost as the truth I had been seeking all my life. As a child I often pondered on why I was here, sometimes I felt like a stranger on earth. Now I know why.

Many many years ago, I had a friend who had struggled greatly in her life. She tried for several years to repent and come back to church, and several members of my family and the ward helped her every way we could. I spent much time on my knees praying for her and asking what could I do to help her. One day I walked into the store and saw her talking to someone. At that moment, the Spirit whispered to me that she would never be comfortable in the Celestial Kingdom after the things she had done. It wasn't that He wouldn't forgive her, but that she couldn't forgive herself. I had to leave the store, crying and pondering about what she had been through...and wondering how someone could NOT feel comfortable near our Heavenly Parents. At that time, we had been talking at least 3 times a week. It seemed that every time I went to the store she was there, and we would chat for 15-20 minutes. She had been coming to church pretty regularly for several months, but after this experience (which I never told to her), she never came to church again as long as I was in that ward. And I've never heard from her or seen her since...not even in the store. I would call. She wouldn't answer. I have often thought of her and her trials, and hope she has been able to find peace. I know one day Jesus will take her in his arms and tell her she has been forgiven.

Read vs 82 through 88. If you follow it all the way to the last line of 88, you will see a pattern emerge and a realization will hit you that there is nothing to fear about not getting there. The Celestial Kingdom is the DESTINATION. How long it may take you to get there is the only thing in question. Nehor taught this principle but many don't see it. He twisted the principle into the "do whatever you want" model of his false teaching by using the term "beaten with a few stripes". But where did Nehor get this idea to begin with? The Book of Mormon doesn't say specifically. But, if the Glory of God is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man, then vs 88 is 100% in line with that. I hope that this little tidbit not only gives you hope, but also helps you see that there are some very beautiful doctrines that even the enemies of the church will tell you about.
@mdawg9243 жыл бұрын
This is completely not doctrine but I believe that any person who sincerely *wants* to make it the Celestial Kingdom will. I believe that Christ will work with us to make it happen.
@barbaralv83 жыл бұрын
It helps me to realize that NO ONE is "worthy" of the Celestial Kingdom on their own merits. The ONLY way there is through the Savior and HIS grace. That is the beauty of repentance. By myself I will ALWAYS fall short, but the Savior transforms me through my feeble efforts, through the repentance process and with His grace. It took me a LONG time to fully understand how grace applies to me because I've never felt worthy of it. I'd recommend watching Brad Wilcox's talks: 1. His Grace Is Sufficient and 2. After All We Can Do. They're both on KZbin and they're life changing.

I have always looked at v. 74, which says the Terrestrial kingdom is for those who received not the testimony of Jesus in the flesh, but afterwards received it, in this way: You can't receive something you are not offered. To me, then, these people are those who were offered the gospel while in the flesh, fully and completely. They knew what they were doing when they rejected it, who then accept it are those who receive the Terestrial kingdom. Those who were never offered the gospel, but received it during their time in the Spirit World, are those who would have received it in this world, if they had been given the opportunity. They, therefore, are worthy of the Celestial Kingdom. Again, you can't receive what you are not offered. I do appreciate the great insights I have received as I have listened to your presentations. Thank-you for preparing these podcasts.

Wow, a Triple Header for this Scripture Block !! I really enjoyed Casey's inspired thoughts especially the W.W. Phelps Vade Mecum poem to Joseph and Joseph's reply back to him. I could feel their passion and the love for the Savior. I can't help but feel this specific section TOTALLY thrilled Joseph Smith as he wrote it from his own pen the whole Panoptic Vision. Here we have an incredible testimony of the validity of Joseph Smith divine calling as a Prophet. What mortal man could have conceived of such a divine plan? One cannot study and ponder this section without looking at the Savior other than a Living breathing Son of God !! Truly, The God who holds worlds without number in the palms of his hands holds US in his heart. Great is his wisdom, marvelous are his ways !!

So beautiful. I am touched deeply. May all three of you be blessed greatly for sharing your teaching online for all to watch. When my non-member mother passed away, I was devastated because of D&C 76:74. I was inconsolable for the first three days. My husband gave me a blessing of comfort and I began to feel some peace. The Peace didn't come completely until after searching the scriptures for months. One day, I re-read Alma 41:5-8. Although read many times, it struck me as being for me and my mom at that time. I felt peace and much hope as I knew she had many desires to do good and did much good. I love the scriptures!

I have also learned it isnt about becomeinf but about revealing and bringing to light who we are as divine beings. It requires excavation of the debri hiding it and practicing being who we truly are, practicing using the divine attributes that are there but not refined and mastered. Grace is the key...the enabling power of grace. Grace is everything.

It's not hard to picture a prophet on some far distant planet beholding a glimpse of the location where the Savior was crucified then writing that vision down in what would become scripture for thousands of years in that civilization. Readers of the Gospel on that world would reverence the vision in the thought of the place among the Stars were the savior gave up everything for us. And here we are, we can practically pay for a tour to walk the same paths the Savior walked and then get McDonald's for lunch afterwards. Just an interesting juxtaposition and thought.

I have pondered much on the state of those in the Terrestrial and Telestial kingdoms. These aren't so much places where people didn't choose the good news of the gospel as much as it's a place where they go because, in this life, they couldn't understand it. The good news of the gospel is, truly, that we will all live again. However, the destination of the gospel is to learn to LOVE. That one single trait is the governing principle of the Celestial Kingdom. If you do not have it, then you will feel very uncomfortable around those others who do. And, at the heart of love, is how we feel about ourselves. For we can't love anyone, truly, if we do not know how to love ourselves. The second great commandment does not stop at "Love thy neighbor". There is a qualifier there. "AS THY SELF". So many people think that love is unimportant in the gospel. That they have no responsibility in the matter. That God will just "MAKE" them loving people. Agency is the one thing that not even God, in all his wonderous power, can take away from us. If he did, we would resent him for it. It's not a change of the MIND he's looking for, but a change of the HEART. If you can't experience THAT, then the Celestial Kingdom will be out of reach to you. But God says that His work and his glory is to " bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man". Notice that there are no caveats to that statement outside the sons of perdition? God will, as soon as we are ready, bring us all home to the Celestial Kingdom. It could take a hundred earth lives to achieve it and all of our experiences will be different in that journey but if you read section 76 :82-88 closely, He tells us how it's done. Good luck diving into the beautiful sea of scriptures.

I have believed the idea that Jesus Christ died for all of the universe and all of the people on the numberless worlds, but I have kept quiet about that thinking that was too weird for most people. Here these guys say it! Thank you for being weird with me. It is incomprehensible that Jesus suffered for all of this world, but to throw on numberless worlds makes it even more astounding. And that this world is the only one evil enough to kill its God is sobering. I wonder if these other worlds don't know of this one and the story of Jesus. I also wonder if the slight reduction of evil in their worlds would not give them enough God given technological gifts to travel across the space/time continuum to have a visit? Perhaps UFOs aren't anything but people on a tour of the holy land.

The simple answer is Jesus is every part of the Plan of Salvation - He was presented as the Only Begotten to fulfill the Plan - He created our bodies and brought us life - He came to Earth and fulfilled the Atonement - He overcame death and sin - He went to the Spirit world - He will be the King of Kings during the Millennium - He will be our judge - He is what makes it possible for us to go obtain any degree of glory
