AS A CONVERT AND A PERSON WHO LOVES THE BIBLE, I HESITANTLY EXCLAIM I NOW LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON. THE HOLY BIBLE IS LIBERATING. THE BOOK OF MORMON IS MORE OR A CONTININGLY LIBERATING FORCE FOR GOOD, FOR MIND EXPANDING TOWARDS THE GREATER LOVE OF GOD.

Love the analogy of the need of adding chemicals to water to wash away dirt & stains compared to how Jesus washes away our sins!! I'll never forget that explanation.

This is gold... I'm SO happy and grateful that you have put material online now! I have always tried to attend any class you were teaching, but due to conflicting schedules I'm not always able to make it. One time I brought a friend from out of state with me and he longed for the ability to hear your lessons from afar and now we both can! I'm so excited that your lessons can now reach thousands, even tens of thousands. I really hope you continue to be online even after this pandemic. It is such a blessing to be able to hear from you and I've shared your videos with many of my friends and family all over the US. "Thank you" doesnt seem to be enough, but your testimony always adds a flame to my own, making it burn warmly in my soul and inspiring me to serve God even more fervently. -Cassandra

Thank you for the encouragement--it's greatly appreciated! I'm grateful we can still connect over scripture, even if only online. Hopefully we can add an "in person" element back in eventually!

I wonder if the willingness to mourn with those that mourn has a healthy time limit? I have a sister who has been mourning an abuse for most of her adult life. She is stuck in a victim mentality and she will ask you to mourn with her about it forever. She seems stuck and I don't think the Savior would want us to mourn with her until she's "ready", the Spirit tells me she needs to put it behind her and move forward with her life. I believe he would say mourn with them to start with, then regroup, then urge them to heal and press on.

When you see it, reply YES! Mosiah 18:30 And now it came to pass that all this was done in Mormon, yea, by the waters of Mormon, in the forest that was near the waters of Mormon; yea, the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon, how beautiful are they to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer; yea, and how blessed are they, for they shall sing to his praise forever.

@@Unshaken something else happened in 1830 involving six Mormons getting baptized and making solemn promises together with Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith and Oliver cowdery also kind of baptized each other similar to Alma and how he also dunked himself into the water. Our 1830 vs Mosiah 18:30

I have heard it suggested that perhaps the name Mormon comes from the Egyptian “mer” meaning love and “men” meaning enduring, eternal or lasting. So the waters of Mormon (or mermen) would be the waters of eternal love- which is exactly what the love of our Savior and Redeemer is.❤️

Is there a historical explanation for why baptism would occur long before the birth of Christ? Thanks
@Unshaken
@Unshaken 3 жыл бұрын
According to the Book of Moses, even Adam was baptized. The need to make covenants with God is as old as the human propensity to sin. Also, because the Atonement of Jesus Christ is eternal in both directions (it saves those who came before Him as well as those who come after), being "buried with Him" in baptism is just as important, whether it is anticipatory (like the sacrifices of the Law of Moses) or retrospective. Christ's sacrifice is the "center" of eternity, and its blessings--and the need to connect ourselves to it through covenant--spreads out in both directions in time. The end of Alma 39 is a good place to study this as well. I hope that helps a little! Excellent question!
