Br Jared. I love LOTR too. And the whole extends as a parable to us. Indeed: We look forward to _The Return of _*_THE KING_*_ of Kings!_

I had the experience in my mission, only once, that the spirit guided me to take a copy of the Book of Mormon away from a person. Each time someone expressed no interest, and refused further discussions, we left the book with them, because you never know when the book itself might become an instrument of future conversion. In this case, there was this man who asked: "If I prayed, and God told me this book was true, would I have to become Mormon?" We explained to him that, like anyone else, he'd have a choice, but we believed that if God himself told him that what we were showing him was the right way, a believer, like him, would want to follow it. He placed the book down and said, "Then I dont want to ask." It turned out that his dream was becoming a pastor, and he had learned that our ministers, including the missionaries, were not paid. I don't remember the exact words of the exchange at this point, but I remember we confirmed what he had just said, stating something to the effect of "you're telling us that if God himself, told you that this was the way, you'd still want to go a different way?" He said yes. We kindly asked for the Book of Mormon back, and kindly told him that if he ever changed his mind, that he could always hail us, or other missionaries like us, and we'd happily share the gospel with him. When walking out, my companion and I spoke about it, because it was not the usual practice to take the book back, but we agreed that it was for the better (actually for the lesser condemnation of this young man) All this to say that yes, there are times when it is not the will of God for someone to receive "these things."

Learning to think Celestial changed my life and I want to share it because it fits exactly what you're talking about about Jared. I love everything you've said. Here is a help that anyone and everyone has permission to share if kept the same. Transforming Our Thoughts From Telestial to Celestial When trials arise, we have a choice: to strengthen the natural man or the spirit. Understanding the progression from telestial to celestial thinking can help us elevate our thoughts toward Christlike living and eternal growth. Telestial Thoughts Telestial thoughts are heavy and weigh down both our spirits and our minds. They trigger negative chemicals in our brains, making us feel bad and disconnecting us from the influence of the Spirit. The word telestial comes from the Greek root telos, meaning "distant" or "far away," highlighting how such thinking pulls us away from God and His presence. These thoughts fuel negativity, anger, and fear, strengthening the natural man and anchoring us to worldly perspectives rather than lifting us toward eternal, heavenly truths. Common Telestial Reactions to Trials and or events: "Why me?" (triggers anger and self-pity) "Why did they do that?" (triggers judgment and resentment) "What if I fail?" (triggers fear and doubt) Impact of Telestial Thinking: As taught in Miracle of Forgiveness (Chapter 8), thoughts are real and affect how we feel, act, and even how we look Negative thoughts create a telestial world around us These thoughts keep us trapped in cycles of fear, anger, and judgment Terrestrial Thoughts Terrestrial thoughts represent a step up from telestial thinking. They show acceptance but lack the eternal perspective that brings true joy and growth. Examples: Terrestrial Thought: "Okay, Lord, I'll accept this trial." Why It's Limited: While better than resistance, this thinking is neutral and submissive without embracing the transformative power of trials Celestial Thoughts Celestial thoughts elevate us toward Christ and invite divine power into our lives. They transform challenges into opportunities for eternal growth. 1. Hope Celestial Thought: "I hope I succeed, and with the Lord's help." Instead of: "What if I fail?" (telestial) Choose: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) 2. Gratitude Celestial Thought: "I'm thankful for this trial." Instead of: "Why me?" (telestial) Choose: "I'm grateful for this trial because I know it's temporary. I came to this earth with an excitement about the opportunity to become like Christ, I will live an eternity without getting to experience trials ever again, this is my chance. “God I trust you with my life" We know “The flesh is weak, but the spirit is willing” and rejoices in the spiritual growth trials offer. Why Gratitude Matters: My whole desire in coming to this earth was to become like Christ. I’ll get to live an eternity without getting to experience these trials ever again. This is my chance to experience these things that help me become Christ. Having gratitude in the middle of the trial lifts us above it and fills us with light and love. 3. Praising God Nephi exemplified this when bound on the boat. Rather than succumbing to telestial thoughts about his brothers' mistreatment, he chose praise. Example: Instead of: "Why do I have to suffer like this?" (telestial) Choose: "I rejoice in my Savior and trust His plan for me." 4. Mercy, Love, and Compassion These Christlike characteristics shift our focus from self to others. Example of Forgiveness: Instead of: "They shouldn't have treated me that way!" (telestial) Choose: "I forgive them because Christ has forgiven me." President Nelson's Example of Celestial Thinking In his October 2023 general conference address "Think Celestial," President Nelson demonstrated celestial thinking during his experience with intense back pain. He expressed:"As I have wrestled with the intense pain caused by my recent injury, I have felt even deeper appreciation for Jesus Christ and the incomprehensible gift of His Atonement."Reflecting on the Savior's role, he taught: "Think of it! The Savior suffered 'pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind' so that He can comfort us, heal us, [and] rescue us in times of need." Through his trial, he testified: "During my healing, the Lord has manifested His divine power in peaceful and unmistakable ways." President Nelson's experience shows how celestial thinking transforms trials into opportunities for deeper connection with the Savior. Statements of Praise the prophets have spoken: Old Testament "The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him." (Exodus 15:2) "O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:1) "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth all thy marvellous works." (Psalm 9:1) "Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6) New Testament "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." (Luke 2:14) "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them." (Acts 16:25) Book of Mormon "Blessed be the name of our God; let us sing to his praise, yea, let us give thanks to his holy name, for he doth work righteousness forever." (Alma 26:8) "O how you ought to thank your heavenly King!" (Mosiah 2:20-21) "I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love." (2 Nephi 1:15) "O Lord, thou art merciful and kind forever." (Ether 3:4) "Hosanna! Blessed be the name of the Most High God!" (3 Nephi 11:17) Doctrine and Covenants "He lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father." (D&C 76:22-23) "If thou art merry, praise the Lord with singing, with music, with dancing, and with a prayer of praise and thanksgiving." (D&C 136:28) Pearl of Great Price "And thou art there, and thy bosom is there; and also thou art just; thou art merciful and kind forever." (Moses 7:30)

The Book of Mormon truly is a testament of Christ, that through His at-one-ment, we are changed from our fallen, prideful state, born again into a new, divine nature. This is only possible through the grace of Christ and our covenantal relationship to Him. Thank you Brother Halverson 💯

I grew up with a very devote Catholic Mother that walked to church everyday. She did not drive. I married a Mormon and after fighting about religion for 2 years I decided I was going to read the BOM and prove it wrong. I prayed each night that I knew the Catholic Church was true. When I read Moroni I decided to pray from the heart and I asked if it was true. I got a feeling I had never felt before. I started to cry because I knew if it was true I would have give up my Catholic. They never came to me house for many years. But I knew it was true and I couldn’t deny it. Thank you. I love how you teach.

I’m only five minutes into this video, and you’ve already given such a fantastic idea, brother Halverson. I teach 12 and 13-year-olds in Sunday school, so I will try going in reverse, and I’m going to probably not spend too much time on chapter 9, but a little more on chapter 8, and try to get the most out of chapter 7. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sigh. Every. time I pray for charity, someone does something unkind to me, and I have to forgive again. It happens every single time, so I have to give myself a break from praying for charity between each event. The last one hurt so badly that it took me, physically, over 6 months before I even began to recover, so I haven't dared pray for it, yet!
@senecaaurelius1811Күн бұрын
Don’t give up and of course, endure to the end. Always know, God’s love is a gift to you to pass on to others. You can’t create the love inside of you, so you have to be the conduit through which it will move from God to the recipient.

Thank you for another wonderful year of scripture study. I really appreciate your insights and testimony. Just one piece of constructive feedback: I wish that instead of repeating Grant Hardy's claimed distinction (Nephi/Mormon seek understanding and Lehi/Moroni seek experience) you could have shared with us your personal reading of these accounts. We made a separate video--"Did Nephi Drive Away the Spirit of the Lord"--in which we review verse by verse and conclude that the scriptures actually do not support Grant Hardy's claims. Again, love your stuff and would love to hear your personal thoughts on these accounts.

I am so grateful for this lesson. I remember my studies with the missionaries twenty years ago and they asked me to go to the Lord with real intent to know if the BOM is true. I will never forget going to the Lord that Saturday evening after 3:00 pm harm with the Bible and BOM. I testify that has I had my personal experience with the HG straight until after 3:00 am that Sunday morning I knew without a shadow of doubt that the BOM is true and that everything else that will reveal will be true. It was granted unto me because I doubted nothing. My heart is still rejoicing because I cannot denied how merciful Jesus Christ is. I am so grateful for the HG. I am in tears and very humbled

Of all the CFM podcasts I watch, you have been the only one to cover chapter 9 in depth. Thank you. While it has awful things described I think we need to study it as a guideline, so we can recognize things in the last days. I pray things never get as bad as in the Book of Mormon. But then how grateful I am for chapter 7, which is the solution to chapter 9. Thank you for doing things backwards this week.
