As someone who is a regular marshal on the doors of a supermarket, as well as being a manager there, thank you for accepting that they were only allowing one person per household. I regularly get abuse because families want to do their shopping together and don't see anything wrong with it. We do it so we can let more people in the store (i.e. if we can let in 100 people, rather than let in 50 couples, we can let in 100 households worth of shoppers and everything moves a lot quicker in the queue), and it protects the staff and other customers as double the people from one household = double the risk of infection. Thank you :)

Hi Becky, love the video as always. I always freeze fresh coriander and it's perfect and lasts loads longer xx

I just took half of the package of coriander, lined up the stems and stuck them in a glass stem side down, with a little water and put it in the fridge to see if it stay fresher.

for cilantro (coriander), you can out them in a glass cup with water, pretend the cup is a vase and the leaves are sprouting out, you can leave this in the fridge and it preserves it!!!

The herbs, chop them up and freeze them :). I normally online shop to and will need to go shopping next week and I've been dreading it. Not the actual shopping but having to pack (l'm rubbish at packing lol) and carrying it myself 😂 (me and my partner don't drive). Thankfully the shops only about a 15 min walk away but I'm going to have to take my rucksack for potato's, Oat milk (if they have any >

I got a basil plant on my last internet shop b4 lockdown and its been going strong as long as I remember to water it lol so looking forward to making some pesto and gnocchi from scratch in your other video, I have been buying my foodstuff from amazon and online veg and fruit companies as I have a child at home and can't take her with me, but its working out ok as I'm making more food from scratch and buying in bulk so only having to do a monthly shop

I haven't been to the supermarket yet-my lovely hubby has been going if necessary and I was lucky to get an online delivery. You made me smile with your comment about the "amazingness" of toilet paper-thin situation is certainly making us appreciate the mundane much much more!

This is great, thanks. If if your herbs have stalks you can keep them in the fridge in a jug of water, or, rinse, dry carefully lightly wrap in kitchen towel and pop into a sealed zip lock bag. I also pop some in my salad saver and give them a bit of a careful spin sometimes..🤗

It’s because I think in general people were like- I can’t hoard/stockpile fresh fruit,veg etc. so there is plenty of it in stores (although for some reason stores near me keep running out of limes and bell peppers?)

Can you explain how the scanners work? i'm in the US and never seen them
@BeckyExcell4 жыл бұрын
Oh basically you swipe your loyalty card and it allows you to use the barcode scanner. Then you scan every item as you put it in your bag, so when you finish your shop, everything is already scanned and you can just pay and go. Hope that makes sense!

Freeze your herbs. They last forever. And retain the nutrients. And the reason why your partner got macadamia nuts for the curry is because it is an alternative for candle nuts which is what we Malaysians use for our curry. It's natural thickening agent. Without having to use corn flour.

@karenjones18974 жыл бұрын
hi, mark and becky! our stores are pretty spotty on items. fresh is what we will need to get this week. paper products are in short supply but most stores are limiting quantities so people aren't buying it all up and reselling it for a profit. crazy, right? since i have cats, i did order in a stock of cat food as that was my biggest worry. eggs are also selling in limited quantities. trying to stay home all the time, doing cleaning, reading and some bingeing on netflix and amazon. stay safe, well and smart! ~k

Hi Karen, so good to hear from you - hope you're well! That's so sad about the reselling - it's disappointing that it's come to that! I've been having a problem getting some items gf... Panic buyers who are NOT coeliac are buying gf products...... @BeckyExcell4 жыл бұрын
I've never been tested for Coeliac disease because my Doctor told me to stop eating gluten before I was ever tested. Now I will never know! They say I have IBS but it doesn't explain all my issues x
@biancahiller84 жыл бұрын
Becky Excell my friend is a coeliac. They tested her only because ended up twice in hospital after she lost lot of weight. After almost two years on gluten free food she looks much better. I have IBS and try to eat healthy but if I have to much stress or eat to much chocolate then it can happen to have really bad attacks. I had a bad time untill my doctor found out what was wrong with me.

Please don't buy more than necessary. I see 4 packets of flour, i doubt you go throught them in 1 or 2 weeks. Think about other people, if EVERYONE act selfish, supermarkets will be out of stock.
@BeckyExcell4 жыл бұрын
For starters, it's two bags of plain gluten free flour and two self-raising gluten free flour - different flours for different purposes. And baking is part of my job so yes, I will use them in 2 weeks 😂 Why jump to negative assumptions about someone you don't know? Life is sad when you only see the bad 😢 I have the flour I need for the next two weeks meaning I don't need to leave the house which erm... is kinda the point of being on lockdown, right?
