The Xp7 is the biggest secret in cartridges, way better then the VMN95ml everyone raves about, and its $10 cheaper, so much more dynamic and slam. all the clarity and sparkle, unbelievable value.

I can't say that the XP7 is better than the VM95ML, but I can definitely say that the XP7 has fantastic low end, crazy impact and silky high end. Definitely one of the best sounding and most underrated DJ cartridge. The only caveat is knowing that its true sound comes out after several hours of use.

One of the few XP57 reviews, thanks! I own a XP-5 and have really mixed feelings about that one. Tracking is just amazing.. Still tracks where others skipped grooves, but the sound is a mixed bag. Low end is fine, detail in the highs seems ok too, but it does seem to do weird things in with the mid sounds. Some records are 'he that's ok after all' and then 3 records further it seems to sound 'dull' in the mids. Changing from phono pre-amp seems also make a difference, more as with my other cartridges. Guess best upgrade to a XP-7 stylus and give that a try. The body should be the same. I have enough cartridges but most are more suited for lower mass tonearms. I use my XP-5 with a vintage Thorens TD134. Those have a bit higher mass arm.

Hi, XP series uses the same body, so you can upgrade your XP5 but I have a question: are you a dj? XP7 is a dj cartidge, it sounds very good but a VM95 it's a better choice if you simply need a good cartridge to play your vinyl collection. For example you may take a listen to the AT-VM95SH in my last video...😉

@@theaudiophiledigitizer Thanks for your quick answer. Not a DJ.. But those 60ties turntables tonearms are more heavy and need cartridges with can handle around 2.5-4grams. The XP5 handles that very well. But there are other options, vintage and newer ones. Thought the XP5 is a good balance between price & performance, but just not that satisfied for this turntable.
