For a coffee table - try putting the pouf in front of the two side chairs with a rustic tray on top and move the little table currently in between the chairs to the other side of the couch. That way you have three different places to set a drink, etc.... Just a suggestion! Lots of love!

I think a small coffee table isn’t a bad shout. Even one of the types that fold away. In the evenings on holiday, I like to play board games with my friends and family. I like to do this on the coffee table instead of the dining table. Bit more relaxed

I agree with the ‚waiting room‘ comment Josie made. A coffee table would give the room purpose. Like when the interior designer was at the house and recommended not pushing all the furniture ar the walls.

The cottage is looking so good. So cozy and welcoming. I'd pass on a coffee table, the two little side tables are find and I think the room would look too cluttered. I love the mirror and dressing table, such a good match. I'd live at the cottage full time. It's so homey. Well done.

The cottage really has come so far in a short time, amazing work! Love that vanity mirror, it looks perfect there. Also, seeing Manchester was fun, never been there but now that I know it's a 'hip and cool' place instead of just a junkyard I am more tempted to visit!

LOVE watching the developments in the cottage! I can't help but wonder if perhaps the sofa should go in front of the small book shelf door (all be it a shame to cover it) and the two chairs in the window. Then a narrow, perhaps rustic antique bench as a coffee table, to place snacks etc.

The white jar where you’ve put in the dry grass is actually used for storing pickles in India. It generally comes in with a lid as well. It’s very good if you want to preserve food a long time.

The mirror is perfect. Just a suggestion; you could try putting the two chairs and table by the window, creating a little breakfast area/working area. And putting the sofa facing the tv and fireplace.
@AmmaLove24

If it fits, I would put the couch where the two chairs are. It would block the small built in bookcase, but I don't think the bookcase is significant enough for that to matter. The couch would be so much better there (again, assuming it fits).

Agree! I would try more furniture away from the walls even though It's a small room. That usually makes such a difference in a room 👌 And definetly a coffee table in front of the sofa I think its much more practial and cozy. I absolutely love the new mirror and the setup of the desk in the bedroom 😍😍😍

My suggestion for the cottage is to maybe leave a list of your "greatest hits" for restaurants and things to do in the area. I almost always try the suggestions, especially the restaurants and its ESPECIALLY helpful on the first night of the stay as you're often tired from travel and don't want to work to find a good place to eat. The cutest one I've seen was on a chalkboard written in chalkpen in the kitchen so the owners could easily change it up as they found new places or something seasonal happened. Hope this helps

Cottage is so lovely! Charlie will hate this idea but just try it out anyhow... move the couch closer to the fire place and the seating area. Pull it forward so it is only visually, slightly blocking the heat grate (while a nice one - not a feature). This will help keep it from looking like a waiting room. It will also the the two seating areas together, most importantly. It will also allow for a small coffee table because it open up the natural walkway directly to the steps. 💛

My front room is set up like this and is a walk-through space from the front door. I put my couch against the wall that faces the TV and fireplace and have one chair to each side of the couch facing each other which is great for a conversation. Then a coffee table in front of the couch. This way you still can walk straight through from the entry to the stairs. When I’m alone I only sit on the couch anyway. And by “sit” of course I mean slouch…

That cream Amazon dress is so beautiful and the last scene with the sunflowers and waning light was absolutely lovely. I really want one! The cottage looks wonderful, very inviting and comfortable. I thought the couch was too big, but there is actually quite a bit of room around the corner, and with the cushions, lamp, and footstool, looks perfect. The mirror fits perfectly. You've done an amazing job. It's amazing how a few smaller items can tie a room in all together. It would be fabulous to do one of your special videos in the cottage when its ready... showing what a stay in the cottage could look like; waking up, having coffee, walking around the neighborhood and town, cozying up near the fire. I would love to stay there!

We have done with side tables for 40 years because of the same issue with a coffee table. You end up gathering uselessness and side tables sufficed perfectly. I did want a clear one for the beautiful quilts I've collected but found other ways to do display them. Perhaps that crockery was a small pickle jar. Love the mirrors you bought. The cottage looks so cozy. The poof can be used as a coffee table when you put a tray on it. When it's in the way people can move it. I adore the creme dress from Amazon. Perfect for the end of summer. I am not ready for autum because we did not really had a summer, but with all the rainy days I took my first long sleeve darker colored dresses out of the suitcase they where in. Maybe I just need to buy the Amazon dress for this time of year...........

The cottage is looking lush. As I’m with both of you and Charlie on the coffee table situ….you could put the sofa where the two single chairs are, (opposite the TV) as that would make comfy TV viewing. And then put the two single chairs opposite each other by the window where the sofa used to be. That way you could have a coffee table in between the two single chairs, perfect for chats and watching the world go by without the coffee table dominating the centre of the room. That’s a great compromise for you and Charlie 😄💜

You could always try a small reclaimed bench or something as a coffee table - would be thin enough to avoid Charlie's concern about access. Personally I think that a table centres a room and makes it feel more homely and inviting. BTW absolutely LOVE the banter between the two of you on issues of decor it's so interesting to watch people work through problems of aesthetic together. ❤️

Fun video. Cottage looks great, maybe try moving the sofa one foot or so toward the fireplace. I know it overlaps the rad but it would visually “fit” in the room more. Then as someone else said, put the poof in front of it slightly off center towards the fireplace. Then move the two chairs forward a bit, in the corner, onto the rug but angled a bit toward the sofa so they relate to each other. No coffee table. I lived with a room layout for twenty years wishing the room was bigger, bought new stuff, very similar, new layout and the room almost doubled. Weird.

What a great place for a holiday. I think a coffee table is a must - where is one going to put ones tray for ones afternoon tea?😁 Seriously though people will have a drink in the sitting room sometime during the day whether it's coffee in the morning, tea and cake after a long walk, glass of wine and snacks watching TV in the evening. They may not want to sit at the dining table for those things, cups or glasses may get put on the floor/sofa arm, who knows what folk will do when relaxing!😏 You won't need to clutter it up with stuff just let guests use it. If it's a nice table you may need some coasters left on it to give people a 'hint'! Oh and Charlie - love the socks!😉

The cottage is beautiful. I wanted to share another way to place setting around the fireplace using 4 club chairs instead of using the sofa. You could use the two chairs you already have and get two more of the same or a different, higher back chair that compliments your present ones. Place two of them on each side of the fireplace with a big round table or ottoman in the middle. It makes a lovely conversation area with room for better placement. You could even get swiveling chairs in order to view the tv. This works great in oddly shaped rooms. It also allows for more decorative pieces under and around the window. Enjoy your journey!🥰
