I think part of what made this extra challenging is that the old money aesthetic specifically is about flaunting disposal income/wealth by wearing kind of unwearable, one-off/never-repeated, dry-clean-only type pieces, which really sprouted resistance against your more sustainability-oriented mindset of long-term wearability and overall styling flexibility. You look really awesome in the pieces you picked out so it isn't really a problem of looking or posturing a certain "old money" way or anything, but the aesthetic probably felt really out of your comfort zone because the long term wearability of the pieces weighed heavily on your mind. I wonder if the first two looks might look more “old money” if they were a little more undone. So, the belt or the fancy shoes, the white top with the shorts being more unbuttoned and possible wearing a baseball hat. But! In the 90s I had two oversized women’s blazers, the trend then, that I interchanged when I went into what passes near me for “the city.” One was red plaid, and one, black plaid. I wore them with a black turtle neck and black jeans and felt so put together.
