it is nice that you have sisters to share life with, im sorry to hear about what your sister is going thru with her skin. im so over drs anymore, they just dont listen to a woman especially, but unless you have big insurance they dont give you the care you really need. hopefully you found the one who is different. So you want to know about different figures....i mentioned my problems in another answer but here it is. Now 67, have broken pelvis, back and have osteoarthritis throughout my whole body, but God is good and im thankful i can walk, but only with good sturdy shoes with support...no more hot heels and boots. So with my spine degenerating i have gone from 5'3" now to 4'11". I am short waisted, my ribs practically meet my waistline, and my only length comes from my legs that thankfully are still very shapely and firm. Cant say that for the waist... oh well it happens. i have thin firm arms also. i look young for my age so i still want to dress like im 40, but i cant. Oh and of course dealing with those pop-up HOT FLASHES that just wont allow me to wear even a jacket over a tshirt without sweating profusely. It all sounds bad, but i do cringe whenever i have to go somewhere nice (doesnt happen very often at all) about what to wear, not sweating, makeup , the whole thing just makes me glad to get home and rip it all off....haha . You are a super sewer and getting better with your ideas and craft. Take care of you and yours. Thank you, Victoria

I have problems finding things that fit across the shoulders and in the arms. Even men's jackets can be a bit tight in the shoulders. That is what I have been researching the past few days. I thrifted a men's duster thinking that the shoulders would fit me better. Nope. Apparently I am a woman as tall as the American average man, but I am wider in the shoulders. Sigh. It was on sale for $2, so I thought it would be worth trying out altering the back or shoulders, but most of the upcycling is taking in or taking up shoulders, not letting them out. Your channel gives me hope for my future projects.

My biggest problem when looking for clothing is that I'm too tall for everything (I'm not even that tall, but if it's not a specific "tall" cut, it's probably too short) I really struggle with pants, skirts and dresses
@BlueprintDIY4 жыл бұрын
That's exactly why I had to start sewing for myself. I'm only 5'6", but it's mostly legs evidently because pants are always to short. 😆
@bekahnavarro3 жыл бұрын
My weight has swung widely and here's what I've found. Manufactured clothing starts tiny and petite in stature. So if you're a size 0, you must be 5'1". As you go up the sizes, you slowly get taller. I understand that standardized sizes are somewhat necessary, but it's kind of ridiculous.

I'm a bottom hourglass with a DDD bust (so my chest is pretty big but my hips are even bigger 😅). I also prefer my tops very loose to hide my bust (as a transmasculine nonbinary guy I hate drawing attention to my chest) and have always worn XXL shirts (imagine my horror when they started properly fitting in the bust 😅). I have a baby now and breastfeeding has helped me a lot with my body dysphoria (I understand that it wouldn't work that way for everyone but it did for me), so, while I still don't identify with feminine pronouns, I'm ready to embrace my female body and the feminine fashions I enjoy (like swishy skirts!). In light of this new self-confidence, I would like to do some upcycling and thrifting but have no idea of my personal style.

I love your site. I just found it. I have been upcycling for years... I didn't know that was what it was called. I was buying at thrift stores to remake for myself and my kids to save money. NOW... my problem .. my tummy/waist. I have an ok bust... no hips or butt. . I'm thick all around my waist and my stomach is too big for my frame. I also have a long torso. My bust is larger than my hips.. which is good... BUT my waist and hips measurements are almost the same. This is just weird. I also have skinny legs and arms..Often I end up getting things that fit my waist then my rear and legs look terrible... Super stretchy things that will fit my middle often have tight legs. Pants with tight legs make me look like a popsicle on stick legs. (if I lose weight I just take down everything in the same proportions) Also, long loose shirts make me look heavier than I am. NO crop tops! I can't wear the boxy short jackets I find. *** I'm trying to learn how to take longer tops and crop them off CORRECTLY hid my middle but show off thin hips and legs.
