Yesterday was my last day there. I couldn’t mentally do it anymore. It was draining. I’m thankful I had a job, but I’m gonna go chase my dreams now. Regardless if I have health insurance or not. The benefits aren’t worth the daily struggle. I felt so small from customers. My co-workers were amazing but man, every day was so hard.

I'm a shift lead at Starbucks. One thing that Ive realized is that the job is only hard if you make it hard. It all about mindset. As long as you are staying productive, being efficient as a team and as individuals, and cultivating a positive and healthy work environment then the stress of the job should be minimal. If everyone is staying productive then things are getting done, if things are being done effeciently then there will be less confusion, more order, and work will be completed quicker which will make customers and partners happier. If partners are avoiding things like gossiping, ranting, or just general bad attitudes then you the work environment becomes healthy and positive. Weeds out alot of toxicity. All of this can definitely be easier said than done but it is all absolutely doable and everyone needs to believe in themselves.

The Starbucks benefits are endless. I’m always surprised to hear what else is available to us, but honestly the things they DONT provide is a much shorter list. it’s a very good company to work for! just the other day i was getting ready to get off my shift where i work and we have a Starbuck's kiosk, there was only one girl working there and was fairly new and having a hard time keeping up with everything and had about 6 people in line. i walked over to her, told her hey, just take a breather i got you. gave her a wink and paged the kiosk manager of starbucks who happened to be sitting in the back chatting with the deli people. she comes up and i ask how she could just leave this girl alone by herself when shes overwhelmed like this. she just shrugged her shoulders, went behind the counter and started helping the poor girl catch up with orders and cleaning up the spilled coffees. the girl gave me a hug and said thank you. i said this should never happen and it wont happen again. i told the store manager and she got her ass chewed for leaving her post to chit chat during a rush.

Interesting video. I work at a coffee shop as well, but not Starbucks. I live in Slovenia, which is a small European country. I normally prepare breakfasts and other sweet food menu items. I don’t prepare coffees there but I did in all my previous barista jobs. But here they have a strict policy on who works on a coffee machine and who works with food. It’s divided like that. Me and one other girl are employed and responsible for the food being prepared well (if I work morning shirt, she’s working an afternoon one, and vise versa - if I’m working the afternoon shift she’s working the morning shift) and we have students who help us out, so there are plenty of people working here and we have a lot of work 80% of the time, unless it’s raining or is a boring week day - that happens from time to time. But on the weekends it’s crazy! Haha. But I enjoy working there :)
