Well, it’s finally time to give you a tour of our family farm.
We have been raising poultry chickens for over 10 years and we sell our eggs throughout our community at our local, grocery stores, restaurants, and the college here in town. Our whole family is part of running this farm. My daughter Hailey is the manager of the poultry farm and she washes and delivers all the eggs twice a week. Joshua now works for the farm and David has been working for the farm While he’s laid off from Masonry this winter.
We also raise Clydesdale horses where we currently have five horses with a baby on the way. We started raising Clydesdales in 2005. Our very first horse that we had was given to us from Luke’s dad and her name was Dari Ann. When our kids were younger we traveled quite a bit to show our horses at local fairs and we would all stay in the camper for the week. It was a lot of fun. We were super busy in the summer, because there were so many fairs for us to go to, and we absolutely loved it. But now that my kids are older, and they have jobs to do and other responsibilities we don’t get to do that much anymore. Now my daughter Izzy really wants to get back into the horses so she’s been helping Luke out a lot at the barn getting horses ready to be shown and she absolutely loves riding her horse Eva. 
So here is the tour of our chicken farm, Clydesdale horses, and to meet all of our pets.

My old house used to be a chicken farm. I could grow anything in that dirt! That chicken poop is the best for growing things. My veggies and flowers were huge! I sure miss my dirt.

How can you tell if one of your chickens are ill or passed away? Do the other chickens leave them alone when that happens? When the chickens go out in the Spring do they go back in at night? How to you gather all them up if you do? What happens if it storms when they are outside? Are you worried about Coyotes? I'm sorry about all the questions. It's so fascinating to me.

We got 100 baby chicks every summer. I would take them out of the cardboard crate that they were delivered in one at a time. Dip their beak in the water for their first drink, then set them down by the feeder. So chicken chores were always a thing, you locked the door at night, opened it up in the morning. Plus all the feeding, water, and just checking to make sure they are healthy. So also know how to dress chickens, process, cook them or put them in the freezer. We raised our own beef and pork also. Big family on the farm.

Love seeing the Clydesdale horses I used to ride at my local therapeutic riding center and they had two Clydesdale horses that were brothers. Their names were Bill and Bob.

Heather, I so so much enjoyed the tour of the farm!! We have a few chickens but nothing like y’all do!! The horses are gorgeous!! Did ask if you sold your chicken manure, glad to hear you are sustainable and use it on your fields, your garden, etc. The egg business is wonderful that your farm is able to supply to all those businesses including the college! If the college has a culinary program, great that the students would have farm fresh eggs to cook, bake are learn with! God provides and is so good! 😊❤

Oh how I miss Michigan... My grandma still lives on UofM campus, Dexter Ave. I hope we never lose that house, my dad & uncle have discussed selling it if she passes, turns 91 this year. So hopefully she sticks around longer... Thank you for the tour

Great idea Luke, it was definitely a "culture" shock because I grew up in the islands and my dad was a small scale paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) meaning the largest animals we raised were pigs, lol. I hated gathering eggs those darn mean hens fly at my head just sticking my armfeeling those warm slimy blue eggs I spent all summer on my aunt farm Sadly she had arthritis &was in a wheelchair at 34 My uncle use to care for her but he was rinding a tractor it broke he was trying to fix it the thatcher came down he was brain injured all he could could do is lay in his bed for 40 years but me& my brother would go evry summer We get up at 4:30 shovel coal in the furnace then go to the hen houses to gather eggs i remember my Aunt asking what kind of eggs ( she always stand on her crutches &cook) ask what kind of eggs i wanted I said not those ( with tears in my eyes ha ha) i said just the kind from *Hamady Stores lol i alway got into troble she would call my Mom& tatle tail lol She favored my brother 😂 They grew beans& had immigrants work every summer they stayed in little buildings & the one lady had a 1 year old baby i kinda borrowed some doilies ( my aunt made all those she had hundreds( i would take 10 & a few rugs for her buildings lol my mean cousin went out there &seen all the prettys and busted me but the lady always said *Gracias😊& she would let me hold the baby lol We were told not to talk but i snuck back 5 times a day Aunt couldnt chase me &Uncle couldnt walk eitger but i have so good memories my brother lived right next door I been thinking of going again to see my neices The memory alway stayed with me when all the farmers had troble or the family was sick they would come& help each other&bring home made food Alma Michigan reid road Chickens, dogs cats pigs lol& horses me& brother would ride forgot that darn hegehog lol❤😂
