I'm SO proud of you and so happy that big intersection is accessible now!! I got anxiety watching this just because I know how anxious crossing big streets makes me. Well done, you've go this my lovely Joy!!

You’re so sweet Molly thank you so much for the encouragement and the love! I know you know this kind of anxiety and fear all so well. I really appreciated your sweet text messages this past week, knowing that you were following my journey and cheering me on meant so much to me. I am so surprised that the intersection has the audible signals like they had back at leader dog in Rochester Michigan. It’s like Everything’s falling into place! Thank you for cheering me on on my exciting journey, sending you big hugs and love! 🩷

You’re doing amazing Joy! Even as someone with eyesight, I hate crossing roads. I just know you’re going to cross that big intersection perfectly!💛💛

You are so brave Joy! That is so great that they have added those audible signals. When I’m traveling in other countries I often think of how terribly difficult some places must be to navigate for the blind and disabled. I’ve been so many places with crazy uneven sidewalks and no crosswalks at all. I hope that this world can make huge progress toward being more accessible and you are an important part of making that happen ❤

Joy I am so glad that you took your time and waited a few cycles until you were ready to cross and you were speaking such positive self talk to yourself even though you had so much anxiety thank you for sharing with us because this is what I think most of us go through when we’re learning to cross busy intersections we are with you and we are cheering you on!

Joy thank you so much for taking us along this journey with the new dog help you with your hearing impairment as well since you have hearing aid now and at the orientation and mobility program do they teach you things to help you since you have hearing loss I would imagine it’s very hard to cross streets and intersections with hearing loss

Joy, you are amazing. I have thought about going to Leader for O&M training, because I am now living in a different environment with things I’ve never dealt with in regards to O&M skills and I am also dealing with a hearing impairment. Plus, it’s been 30 years since I did any kind of O&M work with a cane. I’ve been a guide dog user since 1994. The problem is, I have a current guide dog, and I live with his trainer, (I usually train my own but didn’t due to confidence issues from past events this time), and she will not allow me to leave him at home for a week. He is a German Shepherd, incidentally named Leader for the dog in the children’s book Follow My Leader and he is very sensitive. I wonder if they’d let me bring him and heel him while using my cane? Probably not. Anyway, you’re gonna nail that intersection. Keep us posted on all the new exciting developments in Joyland. Incidentally, my dog’s trainer’s name is Joy.

You did great! If you press the button while the traffic is flowing parallel to you it will give you time to find the truncated domes and line up.

Hi Joy, just want to say thank you for your videos and thank you for describing everything you do as I myself I’m totally blind. Let me tell you girl you are brave. You are so so so so brave because there is no no way I’d be able to cross intersections like that 40 years old this year I’ve never had a guy dog, but I do have emotional support dog because I have panic and anxiety. Hope to hear from you.

It seems like it would be helpful to have another audio signal for the flashing red hand because the whistle sound only lasted a few seconds
