I would have no patience with crocheting with perlers but I think the little dragon was a success. I think you covered his bald spot with wings but you can always sew beads in the holes. Also if you hadn't slayed the positioning of the eyes and claws, a beader trick when using the tiny glass Delica beads is use a small pliers to shatter the bead you need to remove, then just weave the new bead in. I don't know if perlers are breakable!
@leemasters3592 Жыл бұрын
As a long time beader my pro tip for bead spills or just cleanup- a vacuum cleaner, rubber band and the foot end end of a stocking (knee-highs are perfect). Take the foot off the vacuum cleaner and put the end of the stocking on the tube with 2/3 hanging off. Use the rubber band to secure it in place. Then vacuum up your beads. After turning off the vacum you can pull the stocking free of the tube and all your beads are neatly in the stocking.

Just started... But have to comment the obvious. Less thread- add more as you go. It will make thread management much easier lol. I appreciate this video because it shows how ideas can be formulated when you are doing and creating projects... How things can become an all day all night thing- that sometimes end in failure that can be turned around into a success. It's definitely a process and those of us who create actually LOVE the process- even the headache that comes with it. We are weird. We think it's fun. Lol.

I haven't tried this with melty beads and crochet thread, but I've done something similar with seed beads and sewing thread. I think the dragon is cute the way it is, but just in case you're curious, it is possible to make 3d structural shapes using the square stitch beading technique, like how you did the wings. To increase, you can add two beads above the one below, but each bead gets added one at a time with its own loop. To decrease, you skip a bead, and move on to the next one. If your rows are too wobbly, you can pass the needle through each new bead several times as you're adding them. Alternatively, when working around in a circle, you can pass the needle through all of the beads at once at the end of each row to help tighten them, which is faster if not quite as firm as doing it individually. I should also note that most instructions I've seen for square stitch tell you to work over-handed, as if you're sewing the new bead down to the one below. That's fine for flat things, but for 3d shapes I seemed to have better control when working under-handed, where you actually pass the needle through the bead below first, then string on your new bead, and pass the needle through the same one below again. This leaves the one above to flop around a bit, which lets you mush it where you want it to go as you work.

Ooh I do bead crochet! Perler beads are a little more difficult bcos they are so long length ways but bead crochet does get you super interesting and sensory results. I like to use seed beads with crochet thread and I mainly make christmas ornaments but you can absolutely make cute little animals too. My biggest tip is the tension actually needs to be a lot looser than if you didn't have a bead. If it is too tight, the beads will have trouble interlocking and the fabric will be super stuff and dense. Once you loosen up you can get much more sculpted results and smoother curves. This was such a fun video though and the dragon was the perfect choice for a bead project as it would be naturally scaley!!
