I don't idolize, or pay much attention to, painters specifically as I am bad at painting and it is secondary to my main interest which is....building. For this reason my idols are Jake and Dinos Chapman. They are arguably the only people making legitimate artwork with the medium.

Ana Polanscak, from Gardens of Hecate blog. She's a Blanchitsu artist, but you can see that she actually paints well (not incredible but) and also has a very distinctive style, she has a brown /grey palette that is totally easy to identify. It also helps that she's amazing at conversions and making the story of her miniatures. She's overall my favorite painter (or, better yet, wargamer). She also does meetings to play her narrative campaigns, my wargaming dream is to participate in one and make a 40k warband as cool as hers!

Anvils of konor. He’s a fantastic kitbasher and sculptor, he built a 30k Death guard army that was fully converted, mostly from the new death guard range. He (along with a couple other factors) got me to finally pick a legion, death guard. I’ve almost started armies off single models he’s done on commission

I think with Rodrigo's minis, the reason they blend the variety of colours so well is because it makes logical sense where each colour is used and - this is exceptionally visible in his NMM pieces - is always impacting on or has impacted the rest of the miniature, such as on the stormcasts sword at 7:44 , and these transitions are never harsh. The pattern and shapes of items ALWAYS impact the reflection of the light it is receiving. Trying to put word to your lack of words mr. scott :)

Dr. Faust initially inspired me to develop my skills, I learned a lot from watching his channel. Kujo is just an amazing painter, from the color palette he uses, to his meticulous detail and layering (loins moist)! And obviously you. Most of those mini's look like incredible comic book art. It's so cool. It reminds me of when I played Star Craft. I would play have a good time, the watch a pro video, and it was like watching a totally different game. That's now how I feel about painting.

Paul Norton, an 'Eavy Metal team member, has had my attention for a good while. I have only just gotten into mini painting less than a year ago and his use of striking colors has been a big inspiration to me. He also does a really good job on faces that I wish to emulate one day. His miniatures are weirdly simple and still visually striking.

As you point out people featured on Putty and Paint, most of that site generally gets my rapt and rigid attention. I think that the trick that we as mini painters should take from them is the understanding of desaturation. As somebody else pointed out Lenz and Boucher, the cartoon high intensity color is what works for play for the "2"/2' rule". Its the reason Vallejo has their game and model lines of paint.

Just last year i was back in Spain at my old GW store (i live in Germany now) and im trying to paint the darkoath warband close to rodrigo akores style. The manager was interested so i showed him the inspiration photo and hes like: oh yeah rodrigo comes by from time to time, he buys his GW stuff here. 10 minutes later the door opens and this guy comes in, looking like a normal cool dude with his hair on his back. the manager introduces hin to me, fucking rodrigo akora sat down, took my mini and painted the muscles on the leg in half a minute to explain how he discovered why his classic method of painting skin was not working and how to improve. Watching him work was absolutely amazing and has made me develop in my painting more than all the videos before. Dont know i hate to idolize people but i cant stop thinking hes some kind of god xD Super cool dude!

Migsula and all the other Iron Sleet guys are just simply amazing at what they do. That gritty Blanchitsu grim-dark realism is beautiful. Someday I hope to find my own style very much in that vein that I can be proud of.
