I noticed that the impeccable yarns got softer over the years and I also love the avocado green from craftsmart. I just got it and made a beanie and it was soft! I was impressed for the price and quality! I also like Caron simply soft and big twist cotton yarn!

I think both Impeccable and Craftsmart both rebranded and came out with a new texture. Its more obvious with Craftsmart as it used to be worse than Red Heart. Super stiff and scratchy. Impeccable definitely got softer around the time they introduced the new lines.

I was listening to a local crochet podcast and the presenters mentioned that industrial yellow dye is slightly more acidic, so the more yellow dye used, the thinner and less squishy the yarn becomes!

My advice to all crocheter and knitters. Get more yarn as your needs. So your yarn will not run out fast.

i was at michael’s yesterday and was so shocked by how soft the impeccable yarn was. huge selection and amazing texture. i came home yesterday with one of their “perfect pair” yarns (fingering weight for socks) from the same manufacturer and the color mixes were so pretty. i also got a really soft rayon yarn made from bamboo that they had in earthy and pastel shades. definitely prefer michael’s over joann’s now!

Craft smart and impeccable have changed where the yarn is made from so it is now softer. So check if it is from turkey because those are softer. I think it went from china, India and turkey. I usually find turkey yarn soft and plump depending on what yarn companies want from a specific yarn.

be sure that if you're making potholders or any make that will come into contact with high heat, please PLEASE use a natural fiber yarn like cotton or wool do not use acrylic or acrylic blends. not safe for items that come into direct contact with high heat!
@rebeccaleah77063 жыл бұрын
I'm currently using the craft smart yarn (literally crocheting with it as I watch) I find the softness can change based on the dye lot. I'm making a sweater (mens medium) and its taken me 5 balls - one of which is from a different dye lot and it is noticeably softer than the other dye lot I used. Also definitely try a sample square first! I'm using a 5.5 crochet hook and a moss stitch and it is very stiff. I should have used a bigger hook
