Not to be a hater, but I recognize a huge difference between musical tastes from S. Koreans and westerners. As a westerner, I find this song really boring and stagnant, and her voice to be really plain jane and generic, and I think most westerners would agree. But I noticed, through the rankings on the charts, that this is the type of stuff they favor( very cutesy, chill love songs), which is fine. Not being a hater, just making an observation.

Not really actually. Cuz People also like songs that are very energetic like from Bigbang or < Fire> from BTS. I think the reason this song is so well- liked is because of the lyrics. It touches people's hearts and lots of people feel the way the lyric describes. Of course the melody is pretty relaxing too. Just saying it is not the only type or one of the few type of music that are enjoyed by Korean people.
