Toggo player here, excited to be part of one of your videos! Thrasios/Toggo has been my main deck for the last couple of years playing online and I started playing tournaments this year. 3 top 16s (3rd, 7th and 9th) out of 3 tournaments so far, so I'm pretty happy with the list. The 2 other tournaments were small with about 25 people though. So, here's a couple card choices: - Oboro Breezecaller is a synergy with Toggo to make Rocks when you miss land drops, becomes a ritual with Cradle or Wild Growth or Ancient Tomb. And it's also a nondeterministic win with Cradle and a cost reducer (Training Grounds/Familiar), allowing you to manually draw through your entire deck until you find a win. The way it works is that you activate it for 1 mana, bouncing a land to untap Cradle and then tap Cradle for 5+, allowing you to activate Thrasios at least twice and essentially look at the top 4 cards to put a land from there into play. Then you still have 1+ mana left to repeat the loop. It's a 3 card combo which is usually not great, but alle the other pieces are amazing on their own and I usually tutor for them in the early game anyway to gain value. Also people don't realise that this is a win. It works at instant speed and is very hard to disrupt once all pieces are assembled (which you can usually do without a problem because like I said people don't get that this just wins the game). - Tangle Wire, Urza and Nadu work well with the Rock tokens. I used to play Mox Opal as well but cut it last minute together with Chrome Mox to make room for Carpet of Flowers and another card which I don't remember rn. Reasons for playing Toggo: -Eldritch into Seedborn Muse is great -You have a piece of removal in the command zone to get rid of stax pieces or disrupt other people's game plans I don't always cast Toggo, but he's not to be undererstimated and can often be really clutch to provide removal when you need it.

Some additional lore and fun facts about the event: - The Yuriko player that made the finals is (or was) 17 years old and it was I believe his first event which he was even pretty close to winning at one point during the finals game. - The Yisan deck definitely took a couple people by surprise throughout the event and also was very close to winning at one point in the finals. - The Jhoira pilot is an extremely strong player (who won the event on the same commander last year as mentioned in the video). He also had a super crazy semi finals win where three people (including himself) got milled out on the stack by several Brain Freezes. - The finals game was also very fun to watch with some really funny banter between the players. - The event overall was very cool and fun. It is generally quite popular due to its relaxed atmosphere and lack of entry cost and it's organized by a highly regarded member of the German MTG scene. I myself missed the top16 with Nadu by a point or so on this one due to some misplays and a bit of bad luck in my first two pods :) But I am super excited to see the German (and European) scene grow over time with events like these and attempt to catch up a bit to what happens overseas!

love to see such big deck variation but i thing this more to lack of entry and the relax atmosphere
@mz-wy9sf4 ай бұрын
@@10Pugz I don't think the good placements of more diverse decks in this tournament was because of a lack of good players. At least the top end of the field was quite strong in fact.

Hey, K´rrik Pilot here. Thanks for covering this event. I never thought i´d be featured on one of your videos especially because this was my first ever tournament after playing cEDH for about five weeks. But yes this deck definetly is relatively easy to stop from winning if you don´t do so in the first two turns. If anyones interested i uploaded an updated version of the deck on moxfield where i removed some inefficiencies, .

Why the hell aren’t K’rrik players running or at least considering Eldritch immunity/silver shroud costume to protect him in instant speed?
@peteryankowsky4 ай бұрын
@@caseyandrade6417 I think both of those are fantastic includes for protection in high-power. I cant speak for other pilots, but imo in cEDH, I'd rather pay 2 to recast sometimes, than 1-2 and a card slot all the time. When you're trying to go this fast, it becomes hard to justify defensive costs, especially in colorless. Not saying I am right for this opinion, just how I feel.
@caseyandrade64174 ай бұрын
@@peteryankowsky Ok that’s understandable, because it’s hard to make cuts when the list is already in so tight, but I do think K’rrik is the type of deck to get robbed because poor threat assessment, so I lean towards a few more defensive cards because of that.

I've always wondered by Toggo wasn't played more often. Rocks equip for Nadu, they can be sacrificed to Barin to bounce things to control board, they sacrifice to hit many different x/2 creatures in the format including bowmaster/kinnans/esper sentials/tynmas, can tap to Urza making them manarocks which they can also then be used to fling for free as needed, and Toggo is a direct eldritch evolution to a seedborn muse/upgrade to Urza from Neoform. Hoping we see more Toggo over Rograkh, might indicate a shift to a more midrange meta again vs turbo.

Great analysis of the main reasons I'm using Toggo :) The rocks are also great political tools.

Love to see you covering a tournament from Europe ❤ Thanks a lot! I‘m the RogSi player with the Barracuda. Tested it in the slot of Conqueror’s Flail. The idea was that it‘s both basically 4 mana GA but Barracuda having the upside of giving you flash which is nice with two Necros. Even though Flail is a little bit easier to cast I overall consider Barracuda as a slight upgrade. That said Flail is card ~98-102 for me, 4 mana is a lot and I‘m testing Git Probe in the slot right now. Small comment on Grinding Station. I‘m still uncertain if I like the card. It‘s a redundant combo piece that on it’s own is very bad. And almost all combo wins with Breach I can do with just Brain Freeze. That said I‘m giving Grinding Station another try at the moment.

I'm good friends with Bow due to us being in a lot of fringe brewing places together. The commander casting synergy is part of it, and also 41% of the color pips being black, as well as it opens some unique lines using krrik where you only need a small amount of mana(I think 4 colorless?) And 26 life? To set up breach win on the spot. Beseech does some real heavy lifting with krrik. Bow is also just a madlad that plays super based decks. Hope this helps. I'll be sending him a dm in just a second 😂 ✌️

So looking at that evelyn deck there are 24 lands playing into krikk engine. There's entomb, reanimate, beseech, dark ritual, culling, vamp, demonic plus the commander and countless 1 colorless 1 black cards. Ties the land count usually at that 25-26 to be slightly more aggressive I assume Edit* just read their primer and that's exactly right. Consistent 4 colorless phyrexian creature mana fixer. Im loving the ammount of creativity and variety in these top 16s. While im early Ian im curious, in the past you did deck tech videos where you build a deck and run through your thoughts and reasons behind each card. Is this something thats offered in coaching? Ive loved tayam for about a year and a half at this point but after bowmasters it practically fell off the face of the earth. Ive been doing my own research with friends and other competitive players but itd be really nice to have someone of your caliber look at what im working with and give your thoughts on everything. That'd be priceless. If that is something youd be willing to do where could I contact you and how much would something like that cost? (im in college rn and moneys a little tight lol so it might take me a bit but ill definitely try to stay in contact if thats ok w u when im ready :> )

k'rrik in the evelyn list is to cast evelyn for 2 colorless i would assume
@bowchicawowwow58154 ай бұрын
Currently the deck runs 23 black cards which amount to 34 of the total 82 mana symbols (41%) which all can be cost reduced by K'rrik - so it's like a supercharged birgi for black mana. The idea behind playing him is to a) filter colors and b) provide even more unexpected turbo gameplay potential where colored pips are often the bottleneck. It let's you cast commander for 2 colorless yes - but the real reason is for Beseech the mirror as it lets you win with 2 mana - 2 bargain targets and 2 cards in graveyard with a loop to find Underworld Breach and then Brainfreeze (can even respond with vamp tutor in GY to the brainfreeze triggers to put LED on top), all with just paying life basically. Besides that it layers really well with all the other black spells and because of the high density of different combo packages you can be quite aggressive with tainted pact/demonic consultation with tutoring for win cons and still be able to have an out.
