I told my sons this as (1) pre-teen and (2) teens back in 2000. In front of the man I eventually wed. "When u have ur own, she can kick u out during an argument at her place, and you go to Your Own apartment. Don't HAVE to ask ur female for nothing material." So far, so good. They each have their own job, apartment and vehicle. 23, 27 and 32. Their bdays are coming soon. Most important, no babies. I told them to not make babies if they weren't going to be in their lives both physically and financially. Of course older men are moving in with women as well. If I would have known then, what I know now...

This goes both ways. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen or heard people moving in together and then later they “broke up.” I know he elaborated a little on the women too but we not gone sit here and act like it’s mostly on men. I can tell you specifically what I’ve seen. A lady I used to know and would give her the world if I could claimed she asked me could she move in and I turned her down. I don’t remember that but I know that’s one time I would’ve told her no. Shuler was right about saying don’t necessarily tell them to move in. I’ve been around women my whole and I listen and observe period. The one complaint I heard several times when they’re friend asked why did they allow the guy to move in if they weren’t happy was, “I didn’t ask him. He just moved in his stuff piece by piece.” I think both the man and woman need their own place. You both can have somewhere to chill and see how the other lives. You see if some things can be compromised. You also can show the other methods of doing things if there’s a situation that needs to be address. Just good communication before you to the next step into marriage possibly.

Living together before marriage did not work for me. Shaking it off and looking forward to living alone again. Not giving up on relationships, but I learned a valuable lesson 🤷🏽‍♀️

Say you're in a somewhat long distance relationship that's serious, she can't find the same job where you're at, but there's a spot where she is for you to transfer and still work. Is she automatically required to move in with you on principal anyway? Does is still count as moving with her, something whoever established as against man law (don't know what else to call it), if you both got a house together? Does the law state the house has to be completely in my name only for the duration of the partnership?

My husband moved in with me before we got married. I owned my home when we met and he lived in his own apartment. The plan is for us to stay here *rent free & mortgage free* for a few years before I sell our home in about 10yrs. My husband pays for all major utilities & property taxes. He pays for 80% of our vacation trips. He also upgraded all the major appliances (washer/dryer, refrigerator & stove) and fully furnished our basement. When I sell our home, we plan to go in together on our future home for our retirement. This house we’re in now has steps & we both dnt want to deal with that when we get much older. So we plan to own a ranch style home. We’ve also been able to put money towards our individual savings every week for about 4 years now. We plan to keep doing this until we’ve both retire from work some years down the line. We’ve been married going on 6 years now and so far so good!🙋🏽‍♀️

I personally do not recommend anyone to move in with their partner so quickly. Think about it very well, get to know your partner and see, they are hard-working people and with other virtues you have to consider to take into account sharing your life with that person. Marriage is something very serious more than we think. My first marriage ended because the father of my children chose another woman. I suffered a lot, but God and his love helped me overcome this. I never dated or dated any man after my divorce but 5 years later I met my husband today. I always tell him, don't lose me because there will never be a second chance. It doesn't necessarily have to be that way with all couples, but if this marriage comes to an end for whatever reason, I'll stay alone and I won't establish any relationship again.
