As a former student and educator, I abhor anything that spells 'illiterate'. Growing up in the Caribbean Island of Barbados 🇧🇧, a country once enveloped in slavery, our elders drilled into our minds, the need for education as a means of upward social mobility. Thank God for this nation. Education is paid for by taxation up to tertiary level at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus. This right here is why I created my own literacy company writing children’s books❗️We have to start them as young as possible with learning to read. I read to my kids in the womb & by the time they started school Reading was a breeze, whisking them 1 or 2 reading grade levels ahead. Then my daughter did the same with her twin boys in the womb & they have the same excelled reading results, It Works.

It could be the no child left behind policy. The child could of had a learning disability that probably went unnoticed, or the teachers are only there to collect a check and not tech, the parents can't or won't help them and the child just don't care.

Have you seen some of the schools in poorer sections of major cities? Places are damn near zoos! It's everything a person can do to just survive let alone learn and it's sad. Some of those students and teachers I see are just plain sociopaths and should be removed from the general population. Get that bad element out and then the real learning can take place.
