Back when my wife was my gf, she moved in with me. I would work, and she assumed the position of the homemaker. I never needed anybody to do that, but with that said, that level of cooperation makes life exponentially easier. And it is also worth mentioning that the traditional dynamic shows that both parties are contributing to the relationship in some way. All things being relative, my aim as the patriarch is to make sure my wife at least has a choice. And I'll do whatever it takes to make sure she always has a choice. Because of that, she reciprocates in a way that compliments my contribution to our relationship.12 years and 1 kid later, life is still peaceful. And we didn't have to be "rich" to achieve it. Love and cooperation will get you everywhere.

As a wife, if the woman is also working 40+ hours a week, either she needs to learn to meal prep (aka eating left overs) or both husband and wife need to split the chores and cooking. Most men cannot afford to be the breadwinner but men need to realize that wives are not maids. Especially if kids come into the picture. Hiring help sometimes isn’t a bad thing if and when you can afford it. But yes, it’s a two way street and both partners need to do their part and men need to understand that women cannot carry the load of home while also having to work and do most of the child rearing. It’s exhausting. Help her help you!

I don't think you realize how unfair that kind of sounds because you work 40 hours a week you have to split cooking and cleaning because if I say a man working 40 hours a week and someone breaks into your house then you should be able to go downstairs and see what's going on not him

@@trublacking8572 Um, sir. How many times is that going to happen and how much effort does that man expend in the rare likelihood that that will EVER happen? As a man, it's YOUR biblical responsibility to take care of your wife, meaning doing WHATEVER is required to make sure that she's not exhausted and at her best. I don't know what kind of word salad that was, but you KNOW better as what you typed didn't even make sense. A man's FIRST responsibility is to care for his wife and ensure that she is not worse off for being with him, meaning you are to do WHATEVER it takes to make sure she's not worn out, and exhausted.

We both clean in between the housekeepers because $1M isn’t enough to hire full time help yet 😅 Do whatever works for you in your marriage, but I know my value and what I bring to the marriage lies in more than the domestic duties I can perform. Most men outsource at least two of the three, which is yet another reason why there is zero excuse for men to not help clean the house *that they live in* .

Based on the comments, Its sad that the only value some (black) women think they have is cooking and cleaning. There are so many other ways to make someone feel special, cared for and loved outside of household chores and labor. It's ok to be tired and hire help lol I can assure you, other communities do whether there are children involved or not. We as a people are worth more than our labor. Coming from someone who has worked (military) and been a sahm. Struggling and constant ripping and running isn't the only way to live lol we deserve rest and recuperation too. My husband and I have 4 children. I get my relief by training them to cook and clean since they were 4. I did more work when the kids were in training, but now we are one big team of 6. We have 3 daughters & 1 son and I set the same standards for them all just as my mother trained me and my 9 siblings. I’m sure I would’ve enjoyed some paid help over the years, but shucks I couldn’t pay them to raise my kids. That’s my responsibility that I take pride in. There were plenty of times I/ let the house work sit for a few days while my husband and I enjoyed each other. I demonstrate to my kids balance. We work hard, but we play hard. Each of them need to know how to survive with or without a parent or spouse ,,,,with or without finances. Being a mother and wife is joy not a punishment. Cleaning and cooking is such a small part of the equation.

I understand the thought of making her life easier so she will be peaceful to enjoy each other’s company. The older ladies were tired from domestic work and in some cases working outside the home as well. His ultimate peace has to come from Jesus though. All due respect my brother, What works for you will not work for everyone. Taking care of the children is not easy! So I agree with him when he says “make her life easy by hiring help when needed” . Not everyday but when needed. It’s not lazy to be hypergamous especially if you are a woman who has had a successful business, yet relinquish that in order to be a (Responsible parent ) for the children which is not easy. But your missing the point. And that is if both agree that this is the type of marriage they desire. Than let it be. I hire my help when I need it and I’m very grateful as well... worked hard to afford this ability to hire help which in turn supports someone’s business . 🌍🙌🏾 Thank you to the most high!

I work full time and on my off days I drive over 5 miles to do laundry because I don't have my own. Then I have to clean, cook and try to find time for myself. Before you know it, I'm back at work on Monday. My back hurts, I'm not sleeping well at night and I am starting to hate my job. When I get the money, I am definitely hiring help. That way I can make time for myself and do things that I want and need to do.

Listen, I have a career. I work 2 jobs, taking care of an elderly parent. If I married a man who wanted to hire help, I would be absolutely happy with that. On the point that money doesn't make your life easier, I just straight up disagree with that. Every time I get a boost in income, my life sure as hell gets easier. Being able to pay bills without stress is undeniably better than scrapping by. That doesn't mean I've made money the most important thing for me or will do any and everything to get it. But I will work hard to be prosperous. The biggest problem I see is that when you have people who have been mostly poor all their lives, they don't know what to do with a lot of money when they get it. Irresponsibility is what turns their lives upside down more than anything. But irresponsibility is what causes a lot of issues in the first place.

My pops and mom taught me and we grown grown. They shared all responsibilities and there was no man or woman chores etc. Also everybody needs help. That's why it's says it takes a village. Sometime it's not about being lazy it's about being human. That's like the wife having a baby and you just saying it's her job and not really helping at all. No life isn't easy but we can make it worthwhile and the best it can by actually helping each other. We should have peace together. We because accustomed to this idea especially as black people that if we not killing ourselves working we being lazy or wrong if we not working 24/7. That's a lie and why depression and anxiety etc is so high. Other countries understand this. They literally give more vacation and health days. Also they work less and lots only 4 days a week. The trade off is they actually are not just healthier and happier but they actually are more productive and work better.

Thanks for this comment. This video and these comments are interesting 😂. Nor sure why people are defensive about the idea of relieving wives of chores. Even saying it like that denotes the expectation that women have sole responsibility for maintaining the cleansing of the home. If it works for a couple they should keep doing it, but if a wife could use help, it's strange that the response is "she's lazy." I think what the original post was saying is that women have more energy to devote to their men's needs when their own needs are met. Does it go both ways? Sure...but interestingly, we never have to have conversations about whether or not a man who wants help with housework is "lazy" 🤷🏾‍♀️

Hello King! This is me on this video and let me bring more context to this short clip! A couple things. Life doesn’t get harder as you get older. It gets easier. Ya decisions you make in life can make it more hard but the decisions I’ve made, made it easier. My wife and myself are entrepreneurs. Are time is better spent focusing on money generating activities instead of cooking and cleaning. My wife cook and clean when she wants not cuz she has too. Not sure if you understand the amount of energy we work it takes to raise a child but it’s not easy. So having to do laundry and clean is the last thing i want her doing. My job as a man if to take some of that weight off her. And in return it come back to me. And you are correct. A million dollars is not a lot of money these days. Which is why i use it to buy back my time and get time to focus on making more money and spending time with our daughter. If cooking and cleaning is what some people like to do then by all means enjoy. We rather not though. Life here on earth is short. We rather spend time with our family and create impact. In order to do so we need to buy back our time. Not cook, clean, fold clothes, do dishes, etc. Everyone do what makes y’all happy. Big blessings 🙏🏽 🙌🏽

More black men should take heed. What you said is all truth. It's like they like their women struggling.

Shuler missed your point entirely, so I wish he would pin your comment. I was married for 15 years and ended up like a slave. I was the breadwinner, the cook, the maid, the nurse and HE was the one with the master's degree, not me. I worked like a dog as Shuler described. So anyway now I'm divorced and at peace. And I outsource everything that I don't want to do. I have a housekeeper, a landscaper, a handyman, and I somehow have more funds than when I was married because my energy is properly focused. To this day I wish my ex husband could have understood the exhaustion I felt when married. 24/7 work with no breaks and no pleasure. Now I'm so much happier!

He saw your point, his point is that this doesn't work for 99.9% of America. If you're rich, sure you can take menial tasks out of your wife's hands and probably even take yardwork, house maintenance, car maintenance off your hands. Most people are regular and this has no bearing on their lives.

I agree. Life is too short. I don't even have kids but I'd rather be hiking and traveling with my significant other than slaving all weekend. A little help goes a long way. Having someone come once or twice a week Is nice.

I work 60 hour weeks my husband works nearly 80. He pays someone to cook and clean. When I retire early he will still be paying someone to cook and clean, because cooking and cleaning are not our priorities. We simply don’t have time. It’s not for everyone, but if you have the means, it frees up an exponential amount of time that could be full of things more important to you. A woman who doesn’t cook and clean isn’t necessarily doing nothing with her time. My mother-in-law is a homemaker, but she doesn’t cook and clean. They have someone that cleans and prepares food for them weekly. After raising five children, she decided to donate her time to our local homeless shelter, she is also a Deaconess at her church, and she still has one child who’s paraplegic that she cares for. My father-in-law is a software engineer who works remote, and although they are both home most of the day they just don’t have the time or energy to do domestic work too. Again it’s not for everyone, some people are saving money by spreading themselves thin and some people are making money and delegating time consuming tasks to professionals. My mother always says “You can’t get a second of time wasted back, it’s useless to spend time to save money when you can spend money to save time”.

Money ISN'T the root of all evil. It's THE LOVE of money is the root of all evil. If money was evil, why can you use it to buy groceries and medicine to eat and feel better? The Bible verse is 1 Timothy 6:10.
