China is by far most liberal (for women) & feminist in whole of Asia, among various Asian societies. The women activism had always been very strong since the revolution (1910) that remade the Chinese women. Hopefully, current feminist progress in China can influence other parts of Asia, more towards East Asia & hopefully some extend South Asia.

You mean the country that kills and abandoned their girls, where women are still trafficked? When they're sold and groomed like cattle for their sons? That one?
@TF-2q13 сағат бұрын
@@cooper1819 no. Not true. Chinese women don't have the social capacity of working full time until Mao called for equality of gender and literally used women as labor in WW2. Please don't make wrong statements unless you really know

Nope we don't want your feminism. It's in our culture to respect women as worshipping the divine feminine is a very integral part of Hinduism. Feminism has destroyed the West. I'd rather not have it.

The "One Child Policy" in China was a necessary evil years ago. 100yrs. ago China was the poorest country in the world. Today they're the world's most powerful nation both economically and militarily. They're GDP is expected to surpass ours in less than 5yrs. and they're military is the largest in the world (Army, Navy, & Air Force). They're infrastructure (roads, bridges, tunnels, etc.) alone is light years ahead of us. They've come along ways since WWI (1914-18). There's always two sides to every story.

He has a point, there is no perfect policy. It may have also been a disaster if China’s population had grown to 3 billion, with 1 billion people without jobs. Can you imagine the social unrest of a 500 million people without jobs? And the amount of pressure on the environment and infrastructure due to such a huge population? The counter factual could be worse, or better… but who knows?

China has a solid foundation for feminism thanks to the one child policy. A family has to promote themselves if the family tree is left with a woman.

You mean the policy make families who value boy over girl to abort countless babies?
@cooper18197 сағат бұрын
No, China's solid foundation for feminism was through the 1910 revolution, where strong women like Soong sisters and more.
@TF-2q13 сағат бұрын
@ not at all. Song sisters father was the #1 richest man from hainan province which had deep ties to south asia. No matter what gender offspring song family has, they would do well. And it's less known that their brother Songziwen is prime finance minister of the country for a very long period. So they are not representative of feminism. They are representation of capitalism winning over old political systems in Qing dynasty..

Hm. Asian movie. I use to watch Zhang Zi Yi movie. She choose pretty cool movie to act in. I rented 'Musa' and it Korean. THAT was a pretty cool Korean warrior movie. She play just Princess, though, not 'warrior Princess.' I don't think I would wanna watch even Zhang in a Chinese Rom Com. Probably a LOT more Chinese talent from China in 2024. A lot of streaming. I think it funny how the Chinese will throw another version of 'Journey to the West,' which tanks at the box offices again, before they give us what we want to see, outside of China, as movie goer. You know? 2024 Shaolin movie. Like. '42 Chambers of Shaolin' remake.

I made the comment because a few years ago, Chinese women led the world in suicide per the WHO. It was the 5th leading cause of death for rural Chinese women. Suicide has decreased thankfully but given the research and statistics, some of the Asian countries' women are still unhappy and suffer in silence. Most recently, Japanese, Bangladeshi and South Korean women are some of the "least happiest" women. (Korea currently leads the world in suicide). I watched a few documentaries and interviews of Asian women talking about it and the things they've endured. This film addresses some of those issues those women talked about in their interviews. One of the women interviewed attempted suicide but lived. My comment wasn't intended as an insult, I empathize with anyone suffering in silence.
