I love both. MW 2012 just needed a livery editor and things like a radar disrupter and the like to help shake the fuzz. Unbound is really a sequel to 2012 and I'm all for it. Both have the burnout DNA with licensed cars and cops.

unbound needs to bring up the car audio system from nfsmw12. in mw12 cars sound very natural and pleasing to hear. especially aventador and LFA. only turbo flutters are a bit over the top. edit: even nfs rivals with frostbite engine still uses car audio system from nfsmw '12, and similar camera movements too.

Fun fact: In NFS MW12, the roadblocks seeing while you escape you makes no sense as if you look closely they have no drivers. Also the cops in Unbound know that you're a criminal, they're just too lazy to arrest you if you didn't commit a crime. You can tell by their dialogues, they clearly they know you're a street racer who has outrun them many times but they won't chase you unless you damage their cars.

Oh yes, now let's go back and see the best Pursuit game, MW'05 Test 1: Best place to test this is the bus station...Results vary. They CAN climb after you, but they only really stumble up there. However once they're up there they don't drive off. Test 2: Oh yeah they'll jump after you. They will momentarily become the Rockport Police Air Force if you take a ramp. Much hilarity ensues. Test 3: Not many "buildings" in MW'05 besides the stadiums, but they will follow you anywhere and everywhere, even into Pursuit Hiding spots. Test 4: Stupid invisible walls stopping my experimentation. Results inconclusive. Test 5: See results for Test 4 Test 6: Hnng aftermarket engine exhaust activate neuron in monkey brain. M3 GTR is *the* sexiest sounding car in this game. Test 7: Breaking Objects actually as realistic as can be expected, complete with models, sparks, and breaking glass. Test 8: Crashes, what crashes? I faceplant a tree at 70 mph and just bounce off. Paint jobs and windshields are replacable. Test 9: No, they won't recognize you but their bullshit tolerance is HELLA reduced if you're at high Heat levels. Test 10: Units from the Roadblocks can AND will pull off to reinitiate a pursuit if you get within their mere postal code. Some of the best pursuits I've had are in Most Wanted. The only thing that approached the level of challenge of Heat 5 is incidentally heat 6 in MW2012. The cops in NFS 2015, NFS Unbound, and to a lesser extent NFS Heat are absolute jokes. In the days of MW and Carbon (less so Carbon since that was more the Tuner Lifestyle with MW Pursuit aspects left in for added flavor), a single mistake didn't just cost you everything you got during the pursuit but it was a legitimate bad thing. The sheer effort that the RPD puts into slapping cuffs on you in astounding. Closest thing I've seen is Rivals simply for the amount of stuff going on.

You answered your own question The reason games like Burnout and Wreckfest don't have licensed cars is because manufacturers don't want their cars being completely destroyed. It's possible they got more strict when it came to how damaged their cars could get in games since 2012.
