I truly, truly miss 'those times' you speak of. What happened to them~? Is it because neighbors move too often these days that we don't strike up these at the very least, fast-friendly acquaintances'~? Or b/c now a days we are concerned when we don't know people in advance that they 'well may' turn out to be too strange to want to be acquainted with~? Or is it b/c "we" don't make the first effort, ourselves~? Or the worse is, we make the gesture and it is met by blank stares and an acceptance of our 'surprise' but we just know they trashed it the minute we walked away~? Or is it that people worry that a friendly person or gift bearer will be one of those pest that interject themselves too often or the type that attempt to 'borrow' a cup of sugar, flour or milk every other day~? (I always wondered about them, too ~ whether they really needed it or they just wanted company). It is sad really that neighborhoods have lost this attribute. People seem reluctant to experience anything new. However we need to check ourselves too b/c we might know that we're the type that are unable to say 'no' easily enough to thwart unwelcome advances by others so we don't let any even get started. Whatever the reasons, it is a REAL phenomenon. Times have changed. See what your comment stirred up in me? ha ha. A socio-philosophical discussion over a food video. Cheers~!

This stuff is so good! Two things I do differently: I put vanilla in the melted chocolate mixture, and use a big Tupperware bowl with a lid to get the powdered sugar on. You can shake the bejeepers out of the bowl 🤣 upside down, side to side.

You’re on vacation and posting. You must have been busy before you left. Enjoy your trip. Never heard of these but they look delicious. When I was a kid (we lived in a small town in Ontario near Ottawa) and my mom knew what houses I went to and who handed out what, I loved popcorn balls and chocolate puffed wheat squares and rice crispy treats. Home made treats were always welcomed. That was at least 50 years ago when the world was different. 🇨🇦🇨🇦

Here in central Pennsylvania we call it Puppy Chow. The Amish sell loads of this in their markets and food stalls. It’s addicting!

0:45 Around here in Wisconsin we call it puppy chow.😊 I've made it using Crispix cereal. That's the cereal that was made to stay crispy in milk longer than most cereals. It's one side is corn and the other side is rice. Yummy too. I also use dark chocolate chips when I can find them. (I'm a dark chocolate fan). I never saw it made with nuts though. What a tasty idea!
@musikmaker220 Жыл бұрын
Same here in WA. Puppy Chow. Our family uses either corn Chex or chocolate. So good tho. Also pretzels are good to add.

Team dark chocolate here. Anyone made it with cocoa puffs?
@Daphne-cp8ss Жыл бұрын
Oooh , there's 2 good ideas, pretzels and cocoa puffs. Friend of mine tried Lucky Charms once. Nasty! I think it's the mini marshmallows. Another good one we make is with chow mein (those crunchy ones you use on top I think some refer to them as crispy rice noodles), raisins and peanuts and drop them by spoonfuls on waxed paper. They are also called haystacks by some, my family calls them chow mein noodle clusters. Also made with dark 🍫.

This is one of my (grown) sons favorites, I make it every year at Christmas time. There’s another one that we call white Christmas crack because it is so incredibly addictive! All you do is add any combo of cereals, I usually do Captain Crunch with the berries, Cookie Crisp, Golden Grahams and Trix - then I add in skinny pretzel sticks, mixed nuts, and those La Choy crunchy noodles in a bag. This has to be made in a very large bowl or even a paper grocery bag because it makes a TON! Then you melt some white almond bark and mix it all together without breaking the pieces. Lay it out to harden and dry out and place them in cute gift bags with a cute ribbon, absolutely adorable and completely addictive! I love making treats at Christmas time and even though this is an easy one it’s great because so many of the other treats take a lot more time. Plus since I also make Puppy Chow (or Muddy Buddies) it’s a nice play of flavors to serve along side it. I hope you’re having a great time on your vacation, can’t wait to hear all about it!! ❤

Tom, a little tip.if you fold the top about 1 inch down on the top, that bag will stand open for you once yoh get a little of the product in the bag. Full disclosure, it works better with the bags that don't have a zip lock but will work. I worked with a lady who used to bring this into the office, called it puppy chow but everyone gobbled it up in no time. It's a wonderful snack!
