I told my husband Doug you were grilling butter burgers and he made a beeline for the TV. We're in Lexington and today's weather is great grilling weather. Do you have a preference for charcoal or gas grilling? Thank you for your show, we really enjoy it. Have a great weekend!!

We own a gas grill, but we also love the taste of charcoal! It's just a bit more labor intensive and messy and so we opt for the convenience of the gas grill. Hasn't it been just a lovely week in Kentucky?! We have spent a lot of time outside this week. It's been great temperatures and pretty low humidity with a nice breeze. Couldn't ask for it to be much better. We were actually in Lexington this morning ordering some glasses from Costco! As our doctor said yesterday, it's the extra gift from the birthday parties. I suppose that was a nice way to say it. Thank you so much for watching and being a part of our channel. It's great having you at our table.

As a child, I can remember my dad sweeping snow off the grill to make us a tasty dinner! Tom and I enjoy grilled food all year long, too. But there is something extra special about grilling in the summertime and sitting outside to enjoy the food.

When u cook frozen patties do you cook frozen or thawed and do you cook them slower or get grill hot sometime mine are tough

We ALWAYS thaw them out and then cook them the same as these. We've never grilled a frozen patty.

I had the second burger! It was absolutely delicious! It's probably my favorite meal of all time. It's really great all year long but I love to grill in the summer and eat outside.

This was regular hamburger meat. We like the ground chuck but it's not always an option for us. With this recipe, we get great results either way.

You can also punch a hole in each patty in the center with your finger and it will help the center cook as the outside cooks.

Mmm... I might have to try to be there for the 4th of July! 🤣 I might possibly use BBQ sauce instead of steak sauce. I do like steak sauce, but I also like to do things differently sometimes. I've heard of indenting the center of burger patties. Makes sense! I do prefer meat to be well done and tender. I didn't notice you add salt/pepper when grilling. Did I miss this or did you not do this? Is it because you added garlic in the meat? I've also seen, heard of, adding cheese IN burgers when grilling. I've heard of the cheese just being mixed into the meat as well as adding a cube or some shredded cheese to the center of a thinner patty then adding a patty to it to make a 'normal' thickness patty.

I don't think you'll go wrong with BBQ sauce or steak sauce. We did not salt or pepper when grilling. The onion, steak sauce and garlic, in our opinion, gives it a perfect flavor. We just like to make sure that the burgers aren't super thick in the middle. The outside gets crispy and the middle is undercooked when that happens. There's probably several good ways to keep that from happening. Hope you can find a way to get a good burger into your weekend, Brian! Enjoy!

Yes, this is our back porch. We have had an absolutely beautiful week in Kentucky. Perfect for grilling and eating outside. We think this works really well to keep the center of the burger from getting too thick. We haven't tried the ice cube trick so I can't comment on the effectiveness of that. Grilled food is worth the coats and mittens, I agree. In fact, growing up, I saw my dad sweep the snow off the grill many times so he could grill us up something tasty for dinner! Tom and I love it, too. We are a bit spoiled in that our grill sits on the back porch, so we don't have to sweep snow off of it! Thank you so much for joining us for the video. I love a good grilled burger too. I keep Spice World minced garlic in my pantry/fridge all the time. It’s really the only kind I use.

Honestly, we use whatever is available. We prefer leaner cuts and ground chuck but those are not always an option. We have found, that by preparing it this way, the burgers come out great every time.

That looks so yummy. I have put raw diced onion in my hamburger meat, and the juices from the onion really gives the meat a great taste. I’ll have to try it your way. It seems like it would be very flavorful. Your back porch looks so inviting and relaxing. Also a peaceful back yard to sit and relax. I’d enjoy more grilling recipes. You’re both a delight to watch. We do have an outside grill and we thoroughly enjoy grilling and eating outside when the weather is nice. This week in Kentucky, we 've been blessed with just about perfect weather so we've been outside a lot. I'm enjoying the porch right now as I'm responding to some comments. Thank you. We do enjoy the back yard and deck. And with the gorgeous weather we've been blessed with in Kentucky this week, it's been hard to stay inside. We haven't been visited by "Bigfoot" yet😊 but squirrels, groundhogs, rabbits and occasionally some deer come by for a visit.

I’ve been watching you for a while and I enjoy your recipes. My question is- do you cook just because you enjoy it or do you have some kind of training? Either way I think your recipes are great and fun to make. Not to fussy. I also like that you are “empty nesters” as we are, and you help us cook for just two people and reserve the rest.

Tom has not had any formal training in cooking, but his dad started teaching him how to prepare food at an early age. It's a great skill for life. We enjoy the creative process you can find in the kitchen and it's great to have nice food to enjoy at the end of it as well. It's also really nice to be able to share what you make with others. There are some definite perks to being empty nesters and we do enjoy the pace of our life right now - but I'd go back and have those babies again in a heartbeat if I could. I know, I know. We raised them to become independent and enjoy their own lives and families. But, geez, I miss them being here so much!
