I prefer the apogee Moon myself. The size is very noticeable if you're a regular viewer of the sky. You can currently see the comet on the Subaru meteor live feed on YT. It's rising around 5am local time.

Great show as always guys! I am guessing that when you made this video, I think you said it was in August, word of the "Mini-Moon" wasn't out there so you weren't able to cover it in your October show? I was curious as to whether it was something that was going to be visible in the Night Sky in October and November and where one would look for it? Thanks for all your hard work! Clear, dark skies to you both!

Nic video guys. Could you mention a few variable stars, T Crb for example that seems to be approaching a nova like outburst?

You just did.

55 degrees! That’s virtually overhead! 🤓😁

??? Overhead is 90°. So not even 2/3 elevation.

That's a joke, he said that when the planets were just 2° above the horizon 😂

Speaking of the night sky... Let's change the stars! What I mean is, get the IAU to, OFFICIALLY, make a new constellation. Figure it's time to put something up there relevant to us, don't you think? My idea for changing the stars is called, "Mickey," I mean, "THE ALL-STAR," and includes Orion, Taurus and Pleiades (Subaru). Ok, start at Orion's belt and "Betelgeuse" becomes the head with a baseball hat. The 3 stars of Orion's belt make up the 3 fat belt loops on a baseball uniform. Below the belt are two legs bending at the knee. "Saiph" is the back foot and "Rigel" is the front foot. The spear pointing at "Subaru/Pleiades" is the bat and "Subaru/Pleiades" is the baseball flying away after being hit. "Bellatrix" is the hand that let go and "Aldebaran" of Taurus is the bat's tip. Put it all together and you get, "THE ALL-STAR." In my case, I see a left-handed batter with a, "7," on the jersey. Which makes him, "Mickey." (As it should be) But it can be a righty or lefty with any number you want. Making, "THE ALL-STAR," any player you want and a perfect fit in our night sky. Pass it on, please and thank you.

Sure! Here are some fascinating facts about comets: 1. **Cosmic Snowballs**: Comets are often described as "cosmic snowballs" made of frozen gases, rock, and dust. They are remnants from the early solar system, formed about 4.6 billion years ago¹. 2. **Structure**: A comet has four main parts: the nucleus, coma, dust tail, and ion tail. The nucleus is the solid core, while the coma is a cloud of gas and dust that forms around the nucleus when the comet is close to the Sun². 3. **Tails**: Comets have two types of tails - a dust tail and an ion tail. The dust tail is made of small solid particles, while the ion tail is composed of gases that have been ionized by the Sun's radiation³. 4. **Orbits**: Comets have highly elliptical orbits, which means they can travel very far from the Sun and then come very close to it. Some comets take hundreds or even thousands of years to complete one orbit². 5. **Famous Comets**: Some well-known comets include Halley's Comet, which is visible from Earth every 75-76 years, and Comet Hale-Bopp, which was visible to the naked eye for 18 months in the late 1990s³. 6. **Origins**: Most comets originate from two regions in the outer solar system: the Kuiper Belt and the Oort Cloud. The Kuiper Belt is beyond Neptune, while the Oort Cloud is a distant spherical shell surrounding the solar system¹. 7. **Comet Count**: As of now, there are over 6,000 known comets, but it's estimated that there could be up to a trillion comets in the Oort Cloud alone³. Comets are truly fascinating celestial objects that offer a glimpse into the early solar system. Have you ever seen a comet yourself?
