Comet CHA-250B HF Antenna Takedown and Reinstall

I use one of these antennas and I have worked the United States, Europe, Australia, and South America. Mine is 15 feet above ground. If someone is looking for a multibrand, no radials, no tuning antenna this is a good choice. The only drawback to this antenna is the limited transmit power. 250 watts.

WOW...searching KZbin for advice and found your video!...I have exact setup coming (on order) CHA-250B and 33' pushup mast. MY QUESTION: did you put in any ground radials? I have no room to do so, and was wondering if I am making a mistake with this setup.....how is your performance (either with or without ground radials)?

Hi Jerry, I don't have any ground radials attached, only one 8' antenna mast ground rod. I'm not too happy with the performance of the CHA250B and have ordered the Zero Five 27' HOA 40-10m. My local city gave me a warning to take down one of the two aerials, so I took down the 2m/440cm jpole.

Hey Captain, thanks for the intimate look at guying and masting. I’ve been especially interested in getting a good look at the Easy Up/RoHn poles - they seem like pretty good value for money for a permanent station. I think you have fiberglass masts now right?

I'm no longer using the push up masts. I have the DX Commander Classic but also took that down for now. I'm currently using an 80m double bazooka and also have in a box that is not open, Hex Beam and also the DX Signature 12.4. I've been pretty busy learning to fly a B737.

Is guying necessary for this antenna? I've never seen it stated anywhere for sure.

Thank you. That antenna got knocked down because the guy who mowed our grass, his mower hooked on to one guy wire and down it went. I'm now using a Zero Five and DX Commander Antennas.
