For me, it's been difficult to keep track of what is comfortable and what is not when I'm always at home due to the pandemic and communicating with people feels more like a task than anything else. Chi of love, thank you, Jessie & Brie🙏🏾 ...I really appreciated Rupi's poetry, Jimmy's 'sandbag' wisdom, Jessie's gorgeous vulnerability & the way Brie held empathic space for the 'WE'🙃 As a trauma-informed empathy-coach (& american of african-ancestry), I add my bit to the 'comfort zones' conversation (as someone who swallowed the word 'shy', as a 4 y/o). Here's my philosophy of life poem (which is also spoken word) "Compassion IS the empathic thought, empathy IS being seen & being heard (now that's kinda HOT), respect & understanding feelings they are not, and 'like' after 'feel' is an interesting metaphor we've been taught. Human beings are shades of brown, 'race' is illusory yet still we drown, in the intoxication of separation, even though the GREATEST HIGH comes from connection. Detriment of the skepticism is what some people get, a privilege the 'benefit of the doubt' folks rarely fret, so if you've ever been painted with a behavior you didn't brush, you might be swimming in a privilege-pool that's less than plush. Fear not though team-humanity because connection-man is here, to remind you of your awesome excellence that at times seems less than clear, done with confidence and done with JOY, isn't it about time we make the empathy-app our NEW play toy!" Thank you for meeting my need to be seen & heard (aka visibility), Love & Empathy, Tony Scruggs🦋

Had so much fun doing my 'Learning Lots Podcast' home(play)work🙃 (1) What do you label discomfort that is comforting [What do you gain from discomfort]? A1: Since comfort is a feeling (& an emotional need), I'm going to say that public speaking leaves me feeling discomfort. Then once I choose to start (with the fear), within moments my emotional needs for connection & contribution are met (which then meets my emotional need for comfort)😉 (2) What's worth pushing through discomfort [What calls you to exit your chrysalis]? A2: When I know that something I do will make the world more wonderful (or my personal life more wonderful), I walk through the discomfort with the confident optimism of a bird walking off a branch (ready to fly)🐦 (3) When is it important to prioritize personal comfort? A3: When personal comfort means 'restoration, recovery & reconnection', I employ 'selfulness' (where self-less + self-more = selful). As soon as my spirit, mind & body thermostat goes off, my trauma-informed breathing kicks-in, and it's time to recharge (vs discharge). Make sense?🙏🏾 Empathically yours, Tony Scruggs

All those "friends" we had growing up, and all those we lost contact with, when ADULTHOOD arrived, and all of us had to answer a calling. No words! I enjoyed the "Down to Earth-- JUST YOU" persona of you two and your new Pod-Cast... I've had a good sense of you in general Brie, tho I don't "know" you personally. I feel, my sense of you, is right after this. So, thanks for being REAL and being HERE to share with others. Looking forward to more wonderful drop-the-fronts... Pod-Casts from you's! Have a great day, stay safe, wise and thus well always!
