Great video Chuck. I would recommend ditching the sand filter and install a Pentair Clean & Clear cartridge filter. I switch mine out last season and I’m extremely happy with its performance and no more backwashing. I over sized the filter and only need to clean the cartridges once a season. And who in their right mind mounts a pump motor against a wall, SMH.

I like cartridge filters, I installed them on a 25 meter pool once. It was in a wildlife area and they didn't want any backwash water lol.

Great Video !!!!! I've always wanted a gas heater for the pool till I heard what gas consumption it takes to run the unit , so I use a solar blanket , LOL

Good installation. Sorry to see that they eliminated the heat pump as a good part of my business is pool dehumidification heat pumps for indoor applications & outdoor pool heat pumps. Their energy bill should go up but they will be able to heat the pool a lot faster. I'm sure you told them if they cover the pool when not in use they will save a lot of energy. And they don't have to buy an expensive automatic cover as an inexpensive air bubble mat laid on top of the water will just about save the same amount of heat & very easy put on & take off.

Yes I told him that a solar blanket would make a big difference, but he wanted to feel it coming out of the returns lol.

I just had to replace the bypass check valve assembly in a Rheem heat pump by raypak. It was making a loud howling noise from the check valve

I just bought and installed one of these heaters. I put the plug in for 120v and when I turn the power on it immediately blows the small fuses on the control circuit board. Any idea why?

When the Heater is connected via a comm cable to the EasyTouch for remote control, do you wire the heater directly via a GFCI so it always has power or do you connect it to the relay in the easy touch so it is turned off and on only by the relay in the easy touch?

The plumber who did mine put a bypass on it was that a bad idea then?

No, and we would have put one on this install because there is a tablet chlorine feeder in the filtration setup. This install is also missing a check valve between the heater outlet union and the 90 elbow that return underground to the pool. Look closely and you'll see the chlorine feeder saddle clamp and fitting at that point. You should ALWAYS have a check valve isolating a chlorine feeder feed into the return line from all other equipment further up the path of flow.

No Galvanized was used. Someone else commented that earlier. If you are looking at the 90 near the heater it was just prepainted lol. I recycled it from where I installed the Tee at the gas meter.
